Slightly off topic but I was saying to my Dad the other day, guardiola has ruined football as a spectacle for me. Every team seems to play exactly the same way and it's tedious. Now the fact the national team are terrible at it is a slightly different matter.
Having a right back on the left side is a problem teams can and have dealt with in the past many times and haven't been greatly affected by this. Having a left winger in front of them who also doesn't play left wing and always wants to cut inside means the team is horribly unbalanced and the opposition will always know to defend the centre of the pitch when the ball goes onto the left. Southgates stubbornness not to take an actual left back who is fit to play and not to play an actual left winger and instead shoehorn Foden into the team just like when managers of the past tried the same with Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes instead of coming to the simple truth that the team will benefit more if one was left out.
All teams have to do is set up a solid system and be difficult to break down and the England team haven't got a clue how to break it down
Saka and Foden must be the softest professional footballers on the planet. Zero set piece threat without Magulre. Only Bellingham looks remotely bothered. *****.
Two managers who have less than no clue. But two people that will get defended to the end because "ooo it's not easy, it's really hard" Yeah coz it's so hard to manage a team and imprint your own personal ideas on a side
I've changed my mind...I think we lose. Previously I said extra time win...but was right it would be slow with no application. Slovaks deserve this.
Just saw Southgate on the bench. Looks absolutely clueless. No animation, just sat there letting things meander along. Wake up Gareth
Nice to see he’s now letting Slovakian players off with challenges he had been carding us for before.
