Same thing could happen here if Reform UK Ltd and Farridge take over what's left of the Tories and Labour don't reform our electoral system. Fascism only needs good people to do nothing...
I assume you mean me? Despite me categorically stating that I do not support Trump. What I do support is fairness on both sides. No honest, unbiased person can detest Trump for his wrong-doings but have nothing to say on the clear-as-day corruption from the other side. I've mentioned several things and I've yet to see anyone defend them, only ignore them and say something else about Trump. As it goes, I think this is the problem we're facing. The fact that we're arguing about who's worse is the issue, and large part of the reason why I don't engage with our current political process. It's designed to get us arguing over Punch and Judy (Biden or Trump, Sunak or Starmer (Farage too I suppose)). It keeps everything binary, tribalist and aggressive. And stops us from asking the actual pertinent questions beyond the binal. Come on, we're arguing about who is WORSE. There are no positives from either of them, US or UK. They're all mouthpieces for their respective backers....and those aren't you and I.
"way past a competent age" is somewhat vague and ageist. In principle there ought to be no reason why an 80+ year old should not be the head of a country. In fact Mick Jagger ought to be running ours. Or Sir David Attenborough. Biden has become twice a child though. Poor chap.
That's simply ageist then. And wrong. Why should you not be able to have continuing faculties at 80+ which, with accumulated experience, make you perfectly competent to hold office?
I'm not saying there's a set age where everyone is incompetent to hold the post, just that whenever that point was for him, it's gone.
Trump should have been shot and his corpse stuffed in a gibbet next to the Whitehouse after his refusal to concede the election. He's a traitor who cost several people their lives when his mob stormed the Capitol of the USA.
Here’s a link from 2016. This is years before all the latest shenanigans post losing the election, just in case anyone didn’t know about. I’d be interested to see such a comprehensive list dedicated to any politician, let alone Joe Biden. https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2016/9/28/12904136/donald-trump-corrupt
A bunch of American spys around the world died mysteriously shortly after Trump demanded the list of American spys around the world... did he kill them with his own hands? No. Were they killed because he is corrupt? Quite possibly.
The history of the USA in this regard is even when charges are to be / have been made the offender is pardoned like Nixon was so nothing unique about the current situation. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pardon_of_Richard_Nixon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran–Contra_affair#Pardons
It is unique. A pardon is discretionary and you have no assurance in advance that it will ever be coming. That's entirely different to having immunity from the outset.
