Labour. Lincoln. Incumbent's Tory a useless snake, terrible human even by Tory standards. Labour candidate a Blairite, but has been extremely active and visible round the city for the last couple of years already. Very personable and approachable. More than happy to give him my vote.

What has being a wet lettuce got to do with anything? You're supposed to vote on the policies that will best serve the country not whether you want to sit next to him for Christmas Dinner.

Voted Labour. Not a massive fan of the party in general but under our 2 party system it's the only vote I can make.
I'd hate to vote for any other party and Reform end up with the Barnsley seat. (Can't see it happening) due to FPTP most votes are pointless and the government is elected but a minority of voters in marginal consistencies.

Agree with the opinion over McCartney, not so sure about Hamish. He’s certainly active and putting it out there but not convinced.

Not a Starmer fan nor was I of comrade loony left and still think the Labour Party are in disarray but let’s face it there’s no viable other option ! The Tories well they need to disappear for a very long time and I find it incredulous that there are people who’d vote for them in anywhere apart from where they look after each other and go fox hunting but on here is perplexing. Yes they’ve screwed us over for 14 years but how anyone can support a party more for after the constant lies of the last 5 years, especially during the pandemic but even since it’s been **** up after **** up.

Even if you take out the racist element of it, their policies are by far the worst. For the common working man (which I reckon is the general demographic on here) you're literally worse off voting for them compared to any other mainstream party.

It defies logic that so many seem to be in support of them.

Let's hope we do better this time, our last MP packed in due to giving secrets away after having a bit of bum fun.

I've never understood the personality business.
Let's vote for Boris. His policies are sheite and a he's a full weight racist, misogynist etc. but he's a jolly old soul.
    Policies are all that matter.
Miliband and Corbyn suffered a lot of the same bo11ox.

My wife is extremely sceptical about Hamish's socialist credentials, mostly due to his aristocratic background. However, he's always answered my emails very quickly. Let's see what happens once he's in office!

As for McCartney - wrote to him once and he ignored me. Then a couple of months later, I mysteriously found myself on the local Tory party mailing list. Unamused, I called him out for it on Twitter, and he immediately blocked me. The bloke is a total waste of oxygen.

Yep McCartney is well known for not responding to people, just the worst kind of glory hunter who is more likely to be trying to take credit at the opening of an envelope than helping locals.
The previous Labour MP Karen Lee was well known for swift replies and actions trying to help. She only lost due to her saying on a radio station that she would ignore what people in Lincoln were saying over Brexit and would continue to support staying over leaving.

I voted Green by postal ballot already. Super safe Labour seat and Greens were second last time around.

If anything, I'm surprised Reform is as low as it currently is. There are a lot of people on here that don't vote in the Barnsley constituencies so it will be nowhere near representative of those boroughs. Sadly it really wouldn't surprise me if a Reform MP was returned in the borough. If Miriam Cates can win a seat, it's possible Reform can. Especially if the the traditional left labour voter seek utopia and split the progressive vote.

One of the few reform seats they'll get will be Barnsley south.

It is worrying but sort of understandable, disaffected Tories on the right have nowhere else to go, those in the centre or to the left of centre (One Nation Tories) have plenty of alternatives.

What bothers me most is that after the last 14 years and especially the last 3 years how can anyone think that they've done well enough to stick with them. It defeats all logic. The only explanation I can see is that they are Tory donors and have benefitted with some nice backhanders or they are committed to them in the same way we on here are committed to Barnsley FC, what James O'Brien calls "footballification".
