Most clean sheets in the league last season, good amount of experience at this level and in league above. Only downside is that he supports the Owls. Rather have him over Isted or Roberts back. Would have preferred Southwood over any of the others but he has gone elsewhere.
Looks like we've forgot to untick the 'Previous Club: Barnsley' option on our player recruitment database.
Wildsmith would be a fine signing and would fit nicely with the "good shot-stopper, can't kick for toffee" properties of our last few keepers.
I think this one makes perfect sense good season in this league last season would have thought he lives local with his previous clubs. No transfer fee so just wages good age for a keeper what's not to like.
Derby fans' view of him. https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/42834-wildsmith/#comments Sounds fairly similar to our fans and Roberts. He goes from the sublime to the ridiculous. Some of them reckon his cleansheets are down to their back 3, which, given Cashin is constantly linked to Brighton, they could have a point. I'd be happy with him though. Experienced keeper who probably has a couple more years of improvement in him. I thought he was great in his brief spell here before, albeit that was 10 years ago.
Always going to have reviews like that for any keeper at this level and even level above really. No keeper in world football doesn't make mistakes or have their moments. Probably the best free agent one around we could have got in my opinion maybe Southwood aside. Probably better around we could have bought but those may not have had the experience of Wildsmith
Keeper’s normally get better with age and he can’t have been that bad to stay as Derby’s number one for the last two seasons
