Would imagine he’s going to end up at a championship club. Would imagine on decent wages at derby which could be the only reason they haven’t agreed a new deal with him. Can’t see him joining us tbh or potentially end up at Huddersfield etc.
I've asked ChatGPT to recommend a striker, it's gone for Dion Charles. For a club like Barnsley FC in the English third tier (League One) with a modest budget, the ideal striker would need to have the ability to fit into a high-press system, demonstrate good work rate, and possess decent finishing skills. One promising option would be: Dion Charles (Bolton Wanderers) Profile: Dion Charles is a striker known for his high energy, work rate, and ability to press from the front. He has proven his scoring ability in League One and has the attributes to thrive in a high-pressing system. Strengths: Work Rate: Charles is known for his relentless pressing and ability to disrupt opposition defenses. Pace and Movement: His quickness and intelligent movement off the ball make him a constant threat and suitable for counter-attacking play. Finishing: He has a good goal-scoring record at this level, showcasing his ability to find the back of the net. Given his experience and attributes, Dion Charles would be an excellent signing for Barnsley FC to fit into a high-press system on a modest budget.
I’d be very surprised if we got Wildsmith. He’s just come off 2 good years at Derby in league 1 so surely he’ll be looking at a championship contract. Although to be fair, I’m surprised he rejected (I think he did anyway) a contract at Derby.
We aren’t getting him. There’s no way we are a realistic option for him on wages etc. will end up at Oxford or Huddersfield I reckon.
I find it hard to believe that Derby were playing hardball too much over wages, so if this is true, I can't see him coming here. https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sp...derby-county-goalkeeper-joe-wildsmith-9391123
https://www.barnsleychronicle.com/a...ld-hot-up-now-for-reds-after-2nd-hero-returns Wildsmith doesn't sound like a target.
For a goalkeeper I'd like us to try for Viljami Sinisalo from Villa. May not let him leave but maybe a season long loan would work. Was at Exeter last season and did really well winning 6 awards at their year end bash including fans and players player of the year. 14 clean sheets from 50 games ain't too shabby.
Wildsmith is a decent keeper, but I think a lot of people here are vastly overrating him... He's a decent league one level keeper with a mistake in him or 2.
