I took my oldest with me today, he's 17 so can't vote himself but I thought this time round I'd show him what it's like to vote and let him choose my vote (before we went) because he's the one most likely that will feel what the effects will be over the next 5 years. We live in a previous Tory safe seat but they are due a loss to labour if the polls are to be believed. He met all the local MP prospectives because they had all visited his college over the past few months and he made his choice for labour based on what they each had put on offer to the local area and for his future. I personally like my local labour candidate the most and that would have been who I had chosen but I'm glad I let my lad feel that his voice matters.

What would be funny is Sunak losing his seat to Count Binface and in another shock, Starmer losing to Elmo.

Interviews from the pair of em would be TV gold.

Also AI Steve. Novel idea, wonder how many votes he will get down in Brighton.

Tories out is all that matters. Bugger not left wing/socialist enough. We've had enough fantasy politics/economics. Let's have a grown-up in charge FFS.

Just voted Labour. Would have voted Green if we had PR, but, despite living in town centre I'm somehow in the Barnsley South constituency, so picked my second choice to vote against Reform.

Disgusted today. Went to vote for Farage and his name wasn’t even on the ballot!!! Thankfully, I crossed off the other candidates names and wrote Farage down and put a tick next to him. Proud to have done my bit! Won’t have you woke lot on here calling me thick and a racist. Time to make Britain great again

this is exactly my experience - as an aside I think the Green Party should stop calling themselves the Green Party as it makes some people think all their policies are just to do with environmental issues , where as in fact the manifesto is pretty good overall. I’m hoping labour crush reform, put them off this area, so that they don’t think they can get a foothold in the town and attempt to build a bigger following here going forward.

Wow just voted and had to join a long queue out into the car park. Maybe heading for a good turnout.

I'm going to take a wild swing at "because Farage won't be prime minister tomorrow"

Exactly the same boat as you. Would've loved to have voted green but it would've been a wasted vote and didn't want to give Reform any more of a chance here than they already have.

Time for a bit of music from the sadly departed Karl Wallinger. From "Goodbye Jumbo", hopefully prophetic...

In Hull today nothing would tell you there's a general election taking place. The good burgers of Hull are pleasant and amenable though!

Have you had a car with a loud speaker go by your end saying to vote box number 5 and the candidate’s name? Think it was Owais Rajput for Worker’s Party of Britain. Reminds me of being a kid and the Labour car driving around the estates in Grimey with a loudspeaker and giving out stickers to the kids chasing the car.
