We had a car drive past this morning with somebody shouting through a loudspeaker - ******** woke me up. If I'd been able to make out what they were saying then whoever it was would have lost my vote!
I saw him on the ballot paper this morning. I like the old school idea. It may save his deposit. Will be Labour in our constitunency, no doubt. A wrestle between Greens & Lib Dems for second.
I am in Brighton today. Not seen a hint of anything to do with election in the town centre or seafront. A few placards for lib Dems and very little else. It's like there isn't an election on Did postal vote before I came down here
Enjoy the night everyone i'm settled an looking forward to watching it, i voted earlier, yes i'm a Yorkshire Party voter, was surprised how easy it was,.good luck an good night, Come on Tim Norman.
How dare you call removing the two-child benefit cap (a reason I'm not voting Labour) fantasy politics. EDIT: Apologies for putting words in your mouth, but come on. We need to hold the 'grown-ups' to account, even if they aren't Tories.
Some of the drop will be a consequence of the new voter ID rules, as this is the first GE that's had them. Given that it was a Tory attempt to suppress the non-Tory votes, it has somewhat backfired on them. I think they did some analysis after the local elections as to what the estimated impact was. Hopefully we'll get something similar for the GE in the next few days.
Let's be honest taking ID to a polling booth isn't hard for anyone and is a positive step against voter fraud.
I agree, but it's not necessarily apathy that stops someone voting. It could also be a protest. Folk who feel current Labour doesn't work for them, but don't want to protest by voting for another party, simply don't vote. Preferable to what a lot seem to have done and voted for the racists.
I would think it's disenfranchised a lot more people than it's prevented from voting fraudulently. There are still votes to count but at the moment it looks like it's going to be either the lowest turnout ...or second lowest turnout in history.
I genuinely don't get the issue of proving who you are when it comes to something like voting. Who could have an issue with it?
A number of elderly people for a start...neither my wife nor I have any of the photo ID criteria. Getting it is a ballache for some...the Council talked about setting up local hubs to get people sorted but the Govt wouldn't pay so it was never done.
My Mum doesn't have Photo ID. She a widow who doesn't drive, doesn't have a passport cos she's scared of flying and basically has a birth and marriage certificate.
