I suppose that's democracy and allows this issue to be up for debate. Drawing a **** on the ballot could be seen as democratic as it could show dissatisfaction with the choice of candidates. Saw a stat about lib dems having more seats than in tge 2010 election, despite having half the votes.
How's this for an idea? Keep the house if commons with a local MP. At the same time you elect an upper house, exact function up for debate, by PR. But....be careful what you wish for. You get Farage with hands on the levers of powers and also, what hasn't been reported.....5 MPs elected on a ",pro-gaza" basis. If that morphs into a theocracy backing group, with a potential to expand, it could be bad and could could strengthen the alt right.
Even spoiling the vote is symbolically something I suppose. But just not bothering, I simply can’t understand.
People are strange. I forgot my ID card yesterday so had to go back and get it from the house. Hopefully I remember my season ticket card for the first game!
Oh not this old chestnut. There's no 'none of the above' on the ballot paper, spoilt votes are counted but not really recognised. Also using your logic person A can be politically non active for 4 years but turn up to vote and 'have a say' but Person B could be very active in their local community for 4 years but choose not to vote. Yet you'd give one a voice and tell the other their view doesnt count?
Perhaps you are overthinking this? I’m merely expressing my opinion that, given the struggle for democracy, which, across the ‘democratic world’ is possibly as fragile as it has been since the 1930’s, that it is in our interests to take part in the democratic process. If you don’t want to, and it’s difficult to imagine that none of the plethora of parties offered something of note, then that’s fine. But I’m pretty sure that the alternative to democracy may not provide an answer that you would approve of either. Or perhaps it would?
Not over thinking it, I just think you're giving too much weight to voting when democracy doesn't live and die by putting a tick in a box every few years. I voted btw. But in the past I've taken a political decision not to vote after consideration.
Funds and policies directed to fix things rather than designed to line cronies pockets might make a difference.
Ooh , Fabricant gone. Blooming fantastic. T**t. I'm a bit concerned about who's going to give his wig a saucer of milk every morning. Maybe the Speaker.
Only time will tell but surely they can't be as bad as the self serving ***** who've been in, particularly the last 7 years.
Better than the two faced tw@t we have in power now. Starmer changes face more times than the town hall clock. Look at his slagging off of the sun newspaper at Liverpool then him thanking the Sun for their backing. He's a power grabber nowt else.
