Sound that. Hope it doesn't get in the way of doing the job he's just been voted in for though.

Taking over from Tom Tugendhat who isn't a bad person by Tory standards.

It will and it won’t. It will obviously take up some of his time, and he’ll probably have to move to London (if he doesn’t live there already). It will also make him have more sway with the government and that could bring benefits to his constituency.

Since he was born in Nottingham, I wonder if the public shout 'scab' at him when they see him?!:p

I happen to know a Govt Minister...they have a small team of staff to look after the constituency work.

I've never met the man. But often read his comments in the Chron. I honestly believe he could become the leader of the labour party one day. (As PM hopefully) His military career was outstanding and has been involved in politics one way or another all his Adult life. As a labour party member. (His wiki page makes a decent read) He appears an outstanding citizen and Makes a great case for Barnsley on several fronts. Proud to have him as my MP. And an obvious choice for the post. Although I did also think Defence secretary was a possibility.
Him and John Healy I'm guessing. Both SY MP's get together often and will share opinions.

Good point about Healey. Maybe he recommended Major Dan for the post?

He turned down the leadership a few years ago.

I don't think he was offered it. But when asked if interested by the media. Said not at this stage. Having young kids.

    Why would it?

And presumably his kids are older now so he can devote more time to his work.
