Sounds alright to me. Can play with the ball at his feet, command the box & is a good shot stopper. Walsall Young Player of the Year. Ticks a few boxes & he's a young 'un.

    Welcome Jackson.

Id never heard of so many of our former keepers, even those that did well for us. So we can't be calling this lad 'underwhelming' can we.
    How is that fair ?.

    He’ll do for me.

Just needs to add the scorpion kick to his repetoire.

I honestly don't know why people keep saying stuff like that mate. How many times have we signed someone, someone who most people hadnt heard of, complained about it, and they've done well for us? I don't get judging them before they play for us, especially when they've never seen them play at all?

Now had he played 500 games and everyone has seen him, fair enough, judge him. But for players like this to say theyve never heard of 'em or at least watched em, baffles me. Lot's of people didn't hear of Roberts, Mawson, Hourihane, Williams, Morris... They didn't do so bad! Morris' stats before joining us was really poor, too.

Yeah Frog, and hey I've done it as well in the past, and it's not fair is it.
I hold my hands up, I admit I thought us signing Paul Hayes from Scunnythorpe at that time, was 'underwhelming'. :(

Seems to be mixed reviews on the Warsaw forum. A few seem surprised he's got a league 1 gig and seemingly didn't reckon he should be number 1 for a league 2 team.

On the contrary I saw quite a few "got potential" comments. Seems to be decent with his feet which is something Roberts certainly wasn't. His underlying stats seem decent, positive goals prevented etc...

So we'll have to see, always tough for young keepers. Appears the fee may well have been one of those nominal compensation style fees, so can't have cost too much.

Doug saying it's going to be him and Killip for the number 1 jersey. Does worry me a tiny bit considering neither have never really played at this level. And weren't exactly shoo-ins at league 2 level.

Hopefully they can both make the jump

Must admit I’m very worried if Killip is a genuine contender for the number 1 spot. Was gobsmacked when we extended by a year.

Hope that statement is just a case of football politics to keep folk sweet.

Out of interest, why? Did Killip really do much wrong when he did play? I think it'll be Smith but more than happy with Killip being second choice.

I don’t know what he brings to the party. Didn’t stand out in terms of shot stopping, positioning, command of area, ball at his feet etc.

That injury time gaffe at Lincoln was unforgivable. There were others where I felt he could have done better.

I was also going to say the defenders looked terrified when he was behind them. But that didn’t actually change when Roberts came back! Then again, I think we can do a lot better than him as well. Fingers crossed we have with Smith.

Its a shame about Roberts' drop off in form. If he maintained it no keeper in the league would have come close to him, and I suspect he'd get a championship club. But the drop off was big, if its true he was playing with an injury, fair play to him because he may have just squandered a better paying contract to try get us promoted

Horsham at home for example. We'd have won that game if we'd have had a wheelie bin in goal.

But generally it's the fact he was dropped by the worst team in the football league and subsequently released by then. If he was then to be the number one for a team that should be looking at promotion to the second tier, not relegation to the 5th tier, is probably why a fair few have their reservations regarding his quality.
