Quite the fall from grace. Sounds like he has a lot of issues he's never quite dealt with.... Independent Article
Yes, I think from the article the doping allegations (likely true) had a bearing on them splitting up. Blowing through £13m is crazy. £1m in the bank at 5% is 50k a year in interest. Not sure I could find stuff to spend it on!
Apparantly had £13m in assets. I can never understand why with that sort of money some take financial risks. To the extent of bankruptcy. I know he blames financial experts. But a little common sense wouldnt go amiss. To lose money is not unusual. But to create debts and sell off your assets to clear, is unforgivable in my view.
Agree. Just buy 10 houses up North and rent them out. Outlay around 1.5m and income around 6k a month. Job done.
The more some people have the more they want. Turned his back on cycling in 2019 which was a mistake. What you're good at keeps the money coming in. Trying to be a mod rocker and starting a fashion range isn't. I don't think associating with Lance Armstrong will do his reputation any good either.
He never really capitalised on his earning potential. Believe it or not winning gold medals doesn’t actually give you a great deal financially & he was only really at the top end of cycling earnings wise for 4 seasons 2010-13. If you compare that to say Chris Froome who broke out in 2011 & then signed his first big contract in 2012 & then signed a 5 year deal with the Isreal team that he’s in the last year of now then he won’t have earned anywhere near what Froome has who’s had 13 seasons of huge salary’s. Don’t get me wrong he still earned far more than the average person & isn’t going to get much sympathy but he hasn’t earned the kind of money that I would imagine the average sports fan thinks he has.
They’re probably paying him a fair whack to be on the podcast. It’s really successful. It’s all hypocrisy anyway. If you go through most of the top cycling teams there’s people who either doped during the Armstrong era or in all likelihood doped but just weren’t caught.
Now I'm not saying he is the type because I have never met him. But a few years ago I had the privilege to know the great photographer Monty Fresco who took the famous snap of Paul Gascoigne being held by Vinnie Jones. And he told me many stories of famous sportsman over the years especially the ones who were to big for their boots and their attitude meant they would never get on after their careers, Linford Christie, Daley Thompson etc. I wonder if Bradley fell into this category.
It seems like he was declared bankrupt around the time liquidators for one of his companies were looking at potential personal liabilities he might have. So I'd take statements about him being destitute and living in a van with a pinch of salt.
