I feel more bothered about this bunch of players since Pearce, Adams, Shearer et al. They're genuinely likeable, and have turned the national team around IMO, following the days of dickheads like Terry, Ferdinand, Cole and Owen.
That's one of the reasons I'm so disappointed. Apart from one or two notable exceptions, they come across as a hugely likeable group of blokes, who are genuinely excellent role models for the younger generation. I think that Southgate has a lot to do with that - your conduct off the pitch is as important as what you do on it. This is an England team that genuinely deserves our support. The Lionesses are exactly the same.
