Wednesday for most, I reckon.? But I couldn’t go (dog care) & quickly moved on from that.. I took Ipswich bravely on the chin. We’d already been to premier league, I might have felt worse, if we hadn’t.. I was physically sick after losing to Cardiff. Though I loved the open top bus we hired, I had to go home, for a little cry. While London Tykes got busy drinking Camden Town dry. Unhappy days..
Definitely Ipswich (and not just because I was a kid). 23 was annoying but in my heart I think I knew they'd manage to wednesday it somehow. Cardiff doesn't even register to be honest - the fact that we even made it to an FA cup semi with that team still feels like a weird fever dream.
Cardiff by a wide margin. We had a genuine chance if winning the FA Cup that year. That'll never happen again. We'd been so amazing all the way through and we just never got into that game. Then Odejayi put that sitter wide.
Ipswich by far. A penalty kick and a decent centre half away from going up and having some quality and experience on the books we'd have done well I feel.
I’m clicking like at replies, not at people’s disappointments. Anyone with a heart, would want Barnsley to win everything..
Ipswich for me.It took all pre season to get over it. The game with S6 just left me stunned but I was busy consoling my son and granddaughter so that helped a little.
Ipswich was just after my sister died. I went but it didn't matter. Nothing mattered. The Wednesday game was very frustrating but when we play in the Championship we lose a lot, when we play in League 1 we win a lot. I'd prefer us to be in the Championship, but it's not a great deal better than being in League 1. We were the better team and we were done, but we didn't lose out on such an amazing prize like an FA Cup Final or playing in the Premier League. So that leaves Cardiff. I was more angry than upset. We didn't turn up. We were so much better than how we played that day and most players didn't leave everything out on the pitch, they could have given more. My overriding memory is being stood in the car park after the game and texting @Tyketical Masterstroke with "That was utter s41t." Or words to that effect.
100% FA Cup Semi Final. Blew the only chance we'll ever have in my lifetime to win something. I'm still not over it
This for me too. I may have been more inclined to say the Fowls one recently but I was on honeymoon so missed it. My best mate is a Fowls fan so possibly having to endure him around Wembley had I been there would have made that the worst by far. Instead I was on a boat just off Capri when the result came in and didn't take long for me to get over it.
Been to em all and have to say probably the Wednesday one. Just because of the timing of it. Virtually last touch of the game made it that bad. Had they scored say on 70 mins or even mid way through extra time would have been far better. It could have been any team so not just that it was Wednesday, even though they still dine out on it. Ipswich was a good hard fought game, same with Cardiff. Wednesday game was spoilt somewhat not getting any of the 2 VAR decisions that were very subjective.
Ipswich by a country mile. Getting back in to the Premier League would have changed the course of what we've gone through since, which has been mainly a yoyo club with too many seasons at our current level and a decaying stadium.
I can't really separate them. For me the difference is the knock on importance of the results. Neither of the play off defeats would have made much difference in the long run had we won them. Beating Wednesday would have put us back in the Championship with one hand tied behind our back financially. Beating Ipswich might have got us an extra couple of seasons in the greed league on our cv. But Beating Cardiff, as has been said, would have given us a realistic chance of winning the FA Cup for a second time.
Wendys Cardiff Ipswich Tottenham That order The Spurs gane nothing was expected in a dead duck of a cup but to take 3000 and concede (Dele Ali) so late was a sicker but not as bad as the multiple M1 10 mile country lane detours! Think I got home 93:30 and set off for York 07:00 next day, my fault should have booked leave.
Ipswich Cardiff Wednesday Spurs Sorry @Stephen Dawson I know you're a Spurs fan who's got lost on the BBS
Ipswich. Just because of the missed opportunity to develop and have resource at a higher level. Probably our biggest sliding doors moment.
I get the argument but I don't think it really holds up. Stoke, Hull, Swansea, QPR, Reading etc, etc had a few seasons at the top but never achieved anything bar staying up. There's arguments for either but a major trophy for the first time in the modern era could never be erased.
