Basically saying the reason shorts are Red is because of the Womens team https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/barnsley-fc-women-fa-33279543
Understand the point about the white shorts for women. So why then are there white shorts with the white kit?
No white shorts for the woman is fine. Not sure why the men can't wear them when we are a red and white team. It's not like both gender have to have identical kits. Why is the laundry woman having a say as well?
Do the men's and women's team have to be the same colour? (within reason obviously)... I completely understand white shorts not being for the women, I just don't get why that has to be the case for the men?
So basically Julie has decided that the identity of Barnsley FC is hers and hers alone to do with as she please. It's her call. **** the club, it's Julie's. JAQs red and red army
I don’t understand the laundry woman’s point. The kit man at Leeds clearly gets the grass stains out every week.
Didn't clock that at the time, but it makes sense. Gets the message out there; nothing wrong with that. Also, a whole bunch of my friends now keep on sending me links to articles about Barnsley FC. Got no idea what the club are up to, but presumably it's working? Bit exhausting for me though - feel like I should be on an hourly rate!
The article does say JAQ consulted with the players, mate. Not sure if that's both genders or just the women/mens
Elaine is proper Barnsley, a proper good woman. She’d have abit of banter with them saying “eyup, these white shorts are no good” but there’s not a chance she would be in the ear of someone higher up trying to get the kit changed, no way on earth.
Just odd someone gets a job washing white shorts for a club that's played in them years and they seem to have a big say in changing history. If she doesn't like washing white shorts we should be the wrong place for her, not trying to accommodate.
I've decided I can't be that bothered over the colour of a pair of shorts. The kits are crap imo anyway. Plus there's too much else going on in life to be allowing something so largely innocuous fester in my head. I'll back the team on the pitch whether they wear red, black, blue or any other colour of shorts. Would I prefer white? Yes. But then I'd also prefer to be financially set for life, for the country to be booming economically and for the world to be a peaceful place that's safe for all.
JAQ couldn't give two f*cks about the men's team at Barnsley FC. To me that's apparent, but also fine. She's doing well organically growing the women's team and it'd be good if the men's team had leadership like that.
I quite liked JAQ when she first arrived, but it's starting to feel like we're one of her play things. Keep spouting about history but in the next breath either ignoring it completely or trying to rewrite it. Getting a little bit fed up now
But then what if a new boss comes in and says "what about this?" and you're like "yeah, that might be better actually." That's surely just good management.
I was kind of expecting this but definitely do not agree with it. I understand the rationale but you don’t hand over 100s of years of history to that. And i say this as a woman who has had all the difficulties playing football in this scenario. The argument is totally flawed anyway. Black is by far a better colour. For the shorts for the women's team. Other clubs have negotiated the issue by allowing their club to play in traditional colours and allowing the women to play in darker shorts. It’s just not necessary to have everything the same.
