I wouldn’t want to be him.

Hopefully that might be the end of all the awful comments blaming the motorcycle rider without proof.

I never realised there was any other vehicle involved and thought ut was just a collision between the 2.

That stretch of road is notoriously bad and renowned for speeding vehicles due to a lack of speed cameras in the area.

From memory, there's a couple of blind summits too.

Interesting development but all it confirms is that someone else was involved, not who was to blame. No better speculating now than when they were blaming the biker

If he’s the cause, I expect he’ll get put away for a long time.

They will be doing well to get any doorbell footage unless he was hooning it as far back as the Eastfield Arms.

They've asked if anybody saw the Grey Porsche driving in an erratic way in either North Barnsley or South Wakefield around the time of the accident or before.

Obviously nobody knows the full facts thats fir the police to do their bit, just an incredibly sad loss.

On the whole the general standard of driving now is as bad as I can ever remember, there's an incredible acceptance to just go as fast as possible with little regard for speed limits and safety with high powered cars just treating places as race tracks.
After fatalities 6 months ago at Baugh Green this latest horror unfortunately won't be the last until some rogue driver's make educated changes.

I doubt he would have been hooning it back there because I'm sure there's a couple of speed cameras between Lee Lane and the Eastfield Arms. I suspect he's cleared the speed camera around where the golf course is and floored it.

Any properties between the golf course and the St Pierre hotel that may have cctv or ring doorbells are the relatively new houses on the right hand side approaching Newmillerdam (Patch Wood View/Patch Wood Gardens) other than that there are very view properties on that length of road.

Trouble is the deterrents are not severe enough, and that goes for all crimes.

What I find crazy is how everyone treats speeding as a) a joke and b) so commonplace that they refuse to believe that not everyone does it. I’m always seeing people laughing about having to do speed awareness courses and others basically high fiving them and welcoming them to the club. People constantly use speeding as an ‘everyone does it’ type thing and even people in the last government were using it as an example of a very minor infraction (like comparing the PCN’s to a speeding ticket as in no big deal). It’s so accepted and expected that people argue and literally don’t believe you if you say you don’t do it, or else turn to ridicule about you thinking your special and a goody two shoes.

There’s simply no reason to do it (unless in an emergency to prevent a crash) and it saves seconds at most. A car passed us at high speed last week and almost smashed into the car coming in the opposite direction. I timed how long it took us to reach where he turned off and it was an extra 8 seconds. He could have killed someone to save 8 seconds. If he’d have crashed and not hurt someone the delay would have been far longer than 8 seconds, especially if his car was written off. I just don’t see the purpose in it, the reward is negligible and the risk is catastrophic.

All the Jay Slater type internet detectives wrong again, blaming the motorbike rider.

Tbf those rumours weren't helped by the car drivers brother who stated the accident was caused by a biker on the wrong side of the road.

Correct on every level, the obsession and arrogance around speeding and racing is frightening.
Personally think speed awareness courses should be mandatory every 5 years irrespective and high powered cars unavailable to under 25's, its shame sensible drivers get chucked into the same bracket but the roads are put of control these days.

When you get into a car to drive you are in charge of a potentially deadly weapon, and it should be treated as such. We had occasion to be regular visitors to the Keresforth rehabilitation centre in the 90’s (it was where we first met an ex-Barnsley footballer who had suffered a devastating car accident). I have since been strongly of the opinion that all drivers should be made to visit such places once they pass their driving test. Could never happen of course, but it would certainly make some people think about the potential consequences.

I think I know which player you mean, he used to live on my street. I used to see him learning to walk again outside when I was playing out or going to school. It had a profound effect on me and I don’t think I’ll ever shake the sight.

From what I’ve seen out on the roads these days it’s rarely u25s that are the problem. Yes you still get the boy racers but I see more bad driving from arrogant 40-60 year olds behind the wheel of so called prestige cars like BMWs, Mercs, Audis and Range Rovers.
