Looks like Josh Benson will miss start of season after picking up a new injury. Nothing going right for that lad..
Any turnstile or car park attendant jobs available for him because he seriously doesn’t look up to the rigours of football
Nobody is probably more gutted than Josh. Really feel for him. Some very classy comments in this thread so far.
Because I'm sure he chooses to be injured. Obviously I don't know the ins and outs, but it was our our medical team who deemed him fit enough to sign on a long contract.
What a shame, he's clearly a decent football player but maybe hasn't the physical attributes for success. He's sitting in the last chance saloon.
Absolutely untrue. I'm sure no one is more frustrated than young Josh. I don't like shirkers, and players who refuse to play, etc., but to have constant injuries must be really depressing for the young man. I hope he is getting the help he needs, in all departments.
Liked all the above posts. I agree with both sentiments. My two peneth is he's contracted to Barnsley Football Club, hasn't deliberately got injured and tried his best with some decent ability. It doesn't sit well with me paying a player off whilst they're injured. It's kicking someone while they're down. I get the apathy and angst but the human in me says you spend your money you take your chance when it comes to signings.
Hope he's getting the help mentally that he no doubt will need. It must really get him down that he doesn't get the chance to prove himself due to his body not being up to playing professional Football.
Sorry to hear it. Must be really hard for the lad. I think it's time to move on though. He looked somewhere between poor & quite explosive as a midfielder in the appearances I remember, mostly in the Championship. Hopefully there is a route back for him, but I don't think it's with us. I genuinely wish him all the best. Football is a cruel game, but the rewards are high. Lots of other industries are the same, like music, acting, comedy, athletics, etc. Big rewards, but many fall by the wayside. Good luck Josh. Not for the want of trying, if you move on.
Commented on a previous thread that yve got to feel for him but we're a business and in it to be successful. The saying is there's no sentiment in business and despite the humane angle him and Cundy plus the 2 Belgians have cost us over the last few years. No doubt other clubs have the same issues but when we're shopping at Aldi and not M&S every penny counts.
