We play in Red tops & White shorts. If you want to try different stuff you can do what you want with the away & third kits but you don’t change a clubs home colours. It’s just one of them unwritten rules isn’t it? I always thought so anyway.
If we’d never played in red or black shorts previously I’d agree. But we have. If we’d done a Cardiff and changed the home shirt from blue to red then I would regard that as messing with our identity. When we had the blue away kits a few years ago there was lots of whinging it was like a Leeds kit and our away kit should be white and we should only mess with the third kit. Personally if they play well and get good results, what they are wearing is inconsequential.
Why do the men and women's team have to have exactly the same kit. If the issue is the women for obvious reason don't want to play in white shorts then let them play in red or even black shorts and let the men's team revert back to the traditional white shorts. It really is that simple same shirt different shorts.
"Danny Wilson's Red & Red Army" Nope it dunt ring as a chant... For the history buffs we've played in Blue and White stripes and I believe a Brown kit at one time, granted many years ago. I do agree tho that our identity is Red shirt and White shorts although if a very rich buyer came along and said I'll get ya to the Premier league but ya must play in all Green who on here would say ...No.
Outrage from the club's laundry department? Joking of course. But perhaps the same reaction as when they went from white shorts to red ones sixty years ago.
I think what’s happening here is trying to lift the brand of BFC. Not because of the colour of shorts, that’s just a way to get BFC in the papers. JAQ is good at click bait and is doing it well with this article. I don’t think the shorts look good and I do think they’ll return to white next year. I do think that the reasons given by JAQ are not well thought through. In an attempt to make the club and town look progressive, I fear she’s going to bring out the wrong side of our fanbase who will make us look sexist and bigoted.
It’s interesting all this around the ladies team, the club it JAQ are pushing it and I support the growth and it’s good having a team associated to the club, the club are only half asred doing it though they get no support whatsoever, no use of training facilities no equipment etc, they can’t use the training facilities and they are encroaching on other bookings on the astroturf, from personal experience I know this as our group have had quite a few interactions with them not always positive.
For my memory as it’s hazy who invited JAQ to the board? For me she’s like Piers Morgan, keep hearing she’s raising the profile of the club , how do s photo of Toby in a Red training top where all the New Yorkers who saw it will think what’s that Teddy.
Ive just had a look at most of the traditional teams who play I well known kit. All have had alternative coloured shorts at some point. Barnsley is red. Wednesday are blue and white. Blunts are red and white. Rotherham are red. Leeds are white. But all have had different coloured shorts.
Yep I know that. But the VAST majority of our history, especially after the first few years of our existence has been red and white. We won the Cup in red and white, win promotion to and played in the Premier League in red and white. If it doesn't matter what colours we play in then why bother changing them now? There's 150 years of history in English football. Despite constant efforts to erode it it remains one of the main reasons it's special.
I think people could put with a change for one year. I remember Arsenal going to a maroon kit in the Wenger years on what I believe was there 100th anniversary but it’s two years running & not only is it messing with our colours more importantly it looks horrendous. You will always get the odd gripe about any kit but it feels to me like the vast majority want us in red tops & white shorts.
