Good job we’ve got at least one ‘proper’ batsman!

Cricket needs a strong West Indies, New Zealand, Sri Lanka team for the overall good of test match Cricket. The distribution of wealth from the ICC is a joke.

I miss those fearsome fast bowlers of the past from WI!

I read an article last year pointing out how many sides could win all their allocated tests and still not qualify for the world test championship final

I see potential in this bunch. Maybe not quite at the level of the WI legends.. but I wouldn't fancy facing them. There's definitely some venom in those 3 quicks!

West Indies have a very decent bowling attack at the moment, the problem starts when they get offered x2, x3, amounts of money to play franchise cricket, then they're gone and lost from test match Cricket. Test Match players need to be paid better.

I like this windies side, they're having some good periods in this series, but so far not joining them up to win a test. Perhaps this will be it.

Disappointing. For someone so talented he should have far more centuries. He's got a knack for getting out close to three figures.

He's 14th on the all time list of century scorers and only 6 behind 4th which is well within reach. Smith and Williamson both have the same number as him. Noone else above him is active.

Feels a little harsh to criticise.

Twenty years ago we were on holiday in Antigua and I asked a local fella why cricket in the Caribbean was declining? He said that their TV was heavily influenced by the USA and baseball was shown alot. Young talented cricketers were being attracted to US baseball by better money. Since then WI cricket has further declined. Franchise cricket might see an improvement in interest better reward for the players, particularly now the USA is involved, which should help test cricket.
ICC finances are dominated by India, which brings in the most revenue. They bring In the most money, but they don't receive the equivalent as a %. The ecb being the 3rd biggest cricket nation only receives 4% of it's revenue from the ICC.
I didn't know that touring teams don't receive a fee when playing overseas. They recieve help with travel and accommodation. Next year Zimbabwe will be the first tourist team to receive a fee!
Either the ICC or the bilateral series ought to contribute to touring teams by way of fee's.
Probably the ICC, as Zimbabwe v Bangladesh for instance won't raise much revenue.
Apparently CWI spent over $2 million sending teams to Australia with cricket Australia keeping all the revenue.
This is from an interview with Richard Gould chief executive of the ECB on sky yesterday.

Joe Roe has never been got out in test cricket in the 90s.

He has 95 scores over 50.

In terms of time (not innings) he is the fastest to get to 12000 test runs.

He got a ball that didn’t bounce or turn as it was intended to, got 87 on a pitch the opposition got less than 300 on and his team were 54/5 on, he’s one half decent series away from being England’s highest ever test run scorer, needs one century to match the most ever made by an Englishman, and averages a century about every four and a half games.

Disappointing? Disappointing yes in that I’d have lived for him to get another ton but not disappointing that he ‘failed’ to do so.

He’s going to be our highest run getter - and by a long way - by the time he’s done.

For the top class player he is we expect a better 50 to 100 conversation ratio. He's more centuries than most people, but then we play more test cricket than most countries.

I love watching him bat, it's effortless. He's held it together when we've been in some tight spots., including today. And he does all this while being heralded as rhe most unselfish batter.

Gutted for Smith to also get out in the 90s through no fault of his own, with the pitch playing up.

So unlucky Jamie. Deserves 3 figures

Near run a ball and pretty much chanceless.. then he gets that dog of a ball

Don't fancy Windies setting a big target if the pitch is going to start misbehaving like that
