Is it still the same team that moved from Emley?

Used to go watch them sometimes when Barnsley had a distant away game.

Saw them play at Wombwell Town last season, beat us and had a decent away following.

I go, decent standard, ground is amazing for that level, you realise if you go to an away game!!! Usually get 400ish, which again, is big for that level.

No, Emley moved back to Emley, they are a few leagues higher then Wakefield AFC who were newly formed 4-5 years ago.

It's a bit confusing but essentially no. It was firmed from the ashes of a club that folded in COVID. I lost track of who out of Wakefield and Emley kept the 'original football club' when they merged then split.

    Wakefield.

The largest town/city in England without a professional football team.

Watch a fair bit of Non-League. Hallam, Handsworth, Shelley.
Hallam in particular draw good crowds - 300+
It’s nice to go to a game where you are less invested but can still appreciate the good football (or otherwise!) . Also nice to have a beer, and watch a game without fear of idiots misbehaving. Although I would say that some of the Semi pro footballers really do think they are something.

What sort of formation and tactics do you see. Is it all the stereotype. 442 direct/lump it stuff with big target men or is it more diverse and like the football league?

    3-5-2, or 3-5-1-1
I think these non league Managers tend to copy what they see in higher divisions. There is a big range in mobility of players - some strikers are pacy, others proper lumps.
Seen a couple of GKs and wondered how they would even dive/ get to a low shot.

Dearne & District have just played their first game in the Northern Counties, same league as Wakefield.

I remember Emley used to be managed by Ronnie Glavin. The ground had just a handrail on three(?) of the sides, and there was an expectation you went running after the ball and threw it back if you were the closest!

Given I grew up there, by rights they should probably be my team. Only ended up following Barnsley because they were closest and offered 50p kids tickets, so went with a friend and his dad. My uncle was a Man Utd fan, and couldn’t countenance me going to watch Leeds.

My closest teams now are Barrow Town, Quorn, and Loughborough Dynamo. Youngest has been to coaching with each of them, but never been to watch the grown ups.

For myself, the closest I ever got to a football career was being asked to make up the subs at Ossett Albion after they noticed I was vaguely young and had been to a few games.
