Unless we sign a forward (or two) and a left wing back I think we are going to struggle to score goals as we haven't addressed the loss of Cole, Cadden and Macatee yet. Of course the transfer and loan window has not yet closed but I was hoping we would not leave it until the last minute (if at all) as per usual. Can't see Watters doing the business on what we have see since he signed and It leaves too much on the young shoulders of Jalo and others. I just hope if we do sign others they will not be another Oli Shaw/Andy Dallas etc

I hope Clarke thinks the same way as he's been quiet on if we are wanting a striker or not..

I think he wants some strength in depth there.

I think you mean Kane (10 goals), not Cadden (3 goals), but I agree we have lost a lot of goal scorers from last season.

Anything above 14th is success this season. We're a midtable league one club now. This is a year of letting lads like Vimal, Bland and Chapman a year to get set, then we'll sell em and restart again.

I agree with what you're saying arpete but it is pretty much stating the obvious and Clarke has said he wants Strikers, LWB etc, so it's just a case of waiting to see how far down our lists we need to go to fill those positions. I'm hoping that Watters might come good and build his confidence back up.

Jalo looked lively yesterday but not entirely sure he can do the job as a centre forward at this level. Looks more of a winger in a front three to me as he gets behind the full backs exceptionally well. I think it’s clear Watters will get a chance. Looked good yesterday in places despite missing a sitter. Cosgrove obviously starts every week. Not sure what’s going to happen with Marsh. I thought he might have started yesterday to be fair. I think we potentially need two more depending on the faith Clarke has in Marsh. A proven goalscorer at this level and someone who can come on and compliment the team. I liked the look of Aidan Keena who is at Cheltenham. Ran his blood to water against us earlier this season. We of course need someone to score goals as well which is hard to call.

As it stands now we won’t make top half and i trust Clarke when he says we’re in negotiations for top players but until i actually see these players in a Barnsley shirt I’m still not convinced these deals will be happening anytime soon.

As much as I want to put faith in Sam Cosgrove, and Max Watters, and Fab Jalo... they don't give me much confidence as strikers, I'm afraid.

Cosgrove was poor all season until the play offs.

Watters was written off by the previous manager half way through the season.

Jalo has not done anything yet in the first team.

Marsh will struggle to make a living in professional football.

    Forward line looking weak.

Given he scored once last season and they'd probably want a decent fee, no thanks

Just a passing comment and agree, he’s no goalscorer. Fleetwood enquired about him and they wanted half a mill apparently. We wouldn’t be laying that out anyways.

I think the Wednesday final was pivotal. If we'd have won we would have been in a massively different trajectory. As it looks as of now we seem to be going backwards.
I personally don't know why these owners want to remain.I haven't seen the last financial figures, obviously some suggesting that they pump 4 million just to keep our heads above water. We're never going to compete with Birmingham(I do confess that's freak expenditure),Bolton,Huddersfield,Peterborough and a few others.

Saturday night. Headache and snotty cold. Wife saying it's not covid (again).

    Can't go out.

And you won't even disagree with me?

Where can a man get a decent argument these days?

I'll have to fall out with myself again

We will get a lot of set piece goals as we have some big men in the side, 2 fantastic long throw specialists and with Connor Connell Okeefe maybe Styles now and Phillips putting in some quality balls. I'd get 10 goals next season.

I've had it in the pipe, thank you. At Barnsley District.

As you get, at a certain age.

I was swearing in pain, just as they burst into the urine lagoon. Things were better thereafter.

    Not doing that again.

(perhaps the content contained within this post affords a different thread - I am sure there will be similar different sufferers).
