That's because rumours without any substance gets thrown around and people instantly believe them and use them to bash the club.
Cosgrove looked as bad as it gets until the play-offs. He'd just make a hash of things then turn to the ref to protest, pretending he'd been fouled at the critical moment when in reality his control and general ability was awful. I don't see a footballer there but we'll see soon enough.
The new headhunterd, biggest asset at clubs nowadays is head of recruitment. They are the new superstars going for big money between clubs. They more than anyone can make or break a club. Recruitment is key always as been. Those that have racked up large debts and stood still or even gone backwards. Were those who made poor sometimes and ridiculous incoming transfers. We as a club since our promotion under Hecky have fallen under that banner apart from brief time under Dane Murphy's guidance.. Those behind the scenes with the power to recruit are not more important for a club doing well than the 11 that turn out on a Saturday and the head coach who picks em, but it goes hand in hand .. for any kind of success.
No club gets all its transfers spot on, look at some of Man utd, Man City and Chelsea's failures. Regarding transparency Nareev has gone on record in public at fan engagement meetings to explain the club finances and that we don't have mega bucks to spend on transfers. The information is out there Sam nobody is hiding anything, if you chose not to listen then fair enough, but I'd have thought the owners having to bridge a gap of £4/5m a season should tell you everything really.
Fair point. As a club you should have a fair idea of what the other club deems a serious offer. The second bid should be pretty much in the ball park. Otherwise don't bid for what you know you've no chance of getting in the first place.
No way any of them 3 have had owners who have made money from pulling money out of the club. Yes they’ve made success on the pitch but not making money for the owner.
Ipswich bankrollers paid somewhere round £105 million for 40% of the club they need a few seasons of staying and not paying anything out just to get that back
How often do the club deny rumours though, bud? Rarely, they'd be doing it every 5 minutes if so. I'm fairly certain we have put a bid in for him based on all the reports - but the above poster saying "we've clearly gone in with a bid extremely below the asking price" is pulled from nowhere but his backside.
We'd also need to find someone willing to put in that cash *And be better at running a football club*. There are numerous examples of successful businessmen who fail at football.
Simon Jordan ex Palace owner has a favourite quote on Sports radio... "Do you know how to turn £10m into £1m very quickly..buy a football club"...
This current lot who've brought in Hourihane and Roberts, scrapping the under-25s only policy and adding the experience we lacked throughout the previous regime?
As it stands Hourihane seems as tho he will be a bit part player. We seem to have really invested in the coaching staff this season, not a bad thing. Roberts, a good signing...... Local lad wanted to move home, we couldn't really fail with that signing. We haven't as yet, pulled anything out of the bag that could really be described as a signing of intent. We are limping into the start of season just as we limped into the final stages of last.
Resigned to the fact of starting the season with Cosgrove and Watters up front with Jalo and Marsh as backup which kind a tells you how poor recruitment has been so far.
Looking at some of the comments on this thread I'm not sure many listened to DC's interview last week. We've missed out on some We've got things moving on others Lots of work going on into deals DC wants it to be the right deal for everyone and happy to wait if it means getting it right Ideal scenario having all business done but a difficult market Judge us when the window closes. Alot of impaitent people jumping up and down like spoilt kids. Got faith in DC knows what he wants I've no doubt we might be a work in progress for a while but confident he'll have us on the right track, don't rule out some of these youngsters a run of games and some of these lads will come on loads.
I feel like further lessons have been learned since last season and DC has the backing of Mladen. Can’t remember the last time we had such an experienced coaching staff, or number of coaches. That can only be through DC selling it to Mladen who has made the ask of the board.
One of my Liverpool friends messaged last night to say we're apparently looking at Scanlon and McConnell on loan from them. No clue if theres any truth in the rumour or if they're any good. Looks like a left back and a midfielder... and not forwards
