Games changed in 19 years to be fair. To get it back up to the perceived higher standards of those days we need to reinvigorate interest in test cricket. Get people in to watch matches and people talking about it. Exactly what McCullum and Stokes are trying to do. You don't agree it's working fair enough but they are trying to do something positive for the game.

Moving on (as long as I'm allowed the last word! :D)

It's evidently not working. And test attendances and interest have always remained strong in the UK, the same can't be said of other countries. Moved on ;-)

With respect, you can’t even spell his name correctly.

One autocorrect error (thanks Mads!) not picked up from many correctly spelled instances. But thanks for your pedantry.

It was meant to be a light hearted comment so apologies if it didn’t come across that way.
I still think you’re mad for understating the quality of that Aussie team though :D

    Fair point.

Personal opinion, they've some decent performers if we compare to their current international peers, but when you compare with history, then I feel they are well below their zenith. This current era of cricket just isn't floating my boat. Players are much much fitter and more athletic than even a decade ago, that's indisputable. But skill and decision making is most certainly not what it was. I also think because we play so many games now, average players are elevated up the ranks of legends. But hey ho, it is what it is, hopefully we can find some genuine quality out there and more than anything, the balance of bat v ball is always given a chance, whatever the calibre of modern generations.

I think it's been an enjoyable Test Series with the W.Indies actually. It was played in really good spirit, and credit to their players as well for that.
Yeah we're honest enough to say that these are only 'friendlies' as such, and that this isn't a strong W.Indies team, like they used to be. And there will be harder teams to play against in future of course.
But well done to our team, for a convincing and comprehensive Test Series win. :)
