Just looked at her 6 tweets from this year...

Yeah I'm fully onboard with ignoring her viewpoint

I genuinely think capital punishment might have been on the cards if the Tories had won again. Thank god they didn't.

You don't have to follow people to see it. You see what's trending, click on a topic and up it pops.

Even in America, with 21st century forensics, ~10% of those sentenced to death are later exonerated... some after the execution.

Really doubt if they would have taken on such a controversial policy that has no real upside.

The blokes killed a 6, 7 and 9 year old so far and other kids are still critical. I wouldn't be against putting thus bloke down. He should never come out of jail a absolute minimum.

And I doubt capital punishment will ever return to the u.k

Can I just place on record my appreciation of Marc's handling of this thread. When passions are running high, he's dealt with this with great tact & decency.
I may not always agree with your comments on football, but you've shown what being on Site Admin is all about and what a good bloke you are.

There must be a story crossing my newsfeeds at least once a month about people being freed here and in America after serving long periods for murders they didn't commit.
That strand of the argument against the death sentence alone should dictate that we never, ever return to it as a form of punishment.

I don't think he should be killed by the state, I do think he should be kept in isolation forever, in a soundproof room with no natural light. Way worse. Can't do that though because of "human rights" - see the other thread on what happens when the rights of the individual trump the rights of the collective society to live without fear of harm and examples of places where they have taken a different view on that "truth".

The human rights of the collective society can be protected by locking up the perpetrator permanently.
I don't see that society has a human right to then physically or mentally torture that individual once incarcerated.
That's not human rights it's vengeance.

Some very accusatory, speculative posts on this thread. Could I just suggest that people don't go to social media for their 'information' or 'news'? We should all know by now that social media is populated by people pushing their own agendas. Loads of racists, trolls, political extremists, perverts, misogynists, conspiracy-theorists like to use it to spread disinformation. Please go to a reputable news agency and think before you post regurgitated stuff from x, facebook etc. Just a thought.

I think you’re right, mate. & isn’t Swiftie back on tour here in a couple of weeks.? It wouldn’t surprise me if she paid a discreet visit to Southport.?
I don’t know much about her, but she seems that sort of lass..? & her statement is so graceful & clearly heartfelt.

Still, so dreadfully sad & tragic. Hard to process, being so close to home. All we can do is let the medical people & authorities do their jobs & hope the other victims recover well..

Well incarceration is vengeance isn't it? Punishment for a crime, isn't going to put back whatever was done, so might as well just let them go?
