Been binned off by a lot on here already.. Whatever he does good nobody mentions it.. a hell of a lot better than Cosgrove last night who some think will score 20 goals this season. If and when when we bring in another striker I would suggest you get behind Watters aswell.. going to need goals from all over to be near the top..

Everybody wants to get behind Watters. We all want to get behind all of 'em. Nothing wrong with criticism though if its explained and non-abusive.

He always strikes me as one of those strikers that has everything needed to succeed at this level. At some point he'll score goals so getting behind him and giving him a chance to get going here would be the smart move.. otherwise I see a future of watching him score 20+ at another club at this level.

I've never rated Watters but he worked hard 1st half and seems to have gained a yard of pace' to be honest though as entertaining as the game was there wasn't that many chances created for either him or Cosgrove to capitalise on 1st half ' 1 or 2 half chances maybe.

Knowing our history of criticizing young strikers, it'll be 20 at international level...

Showed good pace to get to the ball in the first half. Left their defender in his wake. Said it all along, he’s not half as bad as he’s been made out to be. Hope he gains confidence and shows what he can do.

Depends on your classification of young. He’s 25.

Clarke’s interview last night suggested he needs people to ‘come into the team’ not just the squad.

That might not necessarily be at centre forward - goalkeeper and left back spring to mind too.

But I suspect this is one position we are looking at.

But Watters fitter, stronger and with a yard of pace isn’t an awful proposition. I’m sure people would get behind him.

The problem Watters, Cosgrove, Shaw, Dallas, Cole, Woodrow, Chaplin and the man on the moon have...

They play up front for a Barnsley side that doesn't play to the strengths of a striker. Even with Hourihane and Connell in the side we don't create clear cut chances.

I'd play Marsh as he's most likely in front of goal. Feeds off scraps.

Would have liked to see Watters in that spell last night where Jalo had their left back on toast.

Watters deserves a go. We persevered with Cosgrove when he looked like a competition winner for 10 games last season, I'm not sure why Max didn't get the same support.

He offers nothing. Hopefully a decent loan, if we can't sign anyone. I'll be happy going int the season with Cosgrove, Jalo, Marshy and one more.

He's had one and a half seasons and a full preseason. Watching him get shrugged off the ball everytime. He's just not good enough.

We've signed him on a long contract so it makes no sense to not give him a decent run of games to see if something can click and he can make an impact.
He looks the part with stature and pace but just can't seem to shake off being a nearly man.

He clearly wasn’t good enough when he was loan, lord knows why we signed him. Now we’re lumbered with him hoping he miraculously comes good.

We saw a bit of hope with Cosgrove in the play offs to give him a chance. But these two will be high earners by our standards. & that’s why we’re waiting for loans, because we can’t afford to buy anyone.

It wasnt clearly, because a lot of fans figured he was worth a punt given his history and minutes per goal etc
