Read somewhere this week that we have a strict policy towards agents fees. Wonder how many times we miss out on potential signings as a result of unreasonable agent demands? Without knowing what the policy is I’d say that’s a good thing from the club.
I'm not sure we've had a competitive wage budget in the Champ for at least 20 years, have we? As far as I'm aware, we've pretty much been 'bottom 6'. Any recent successes we've had in the Champ have been due to overachieving, not player budget. Similarly, I think we do have a competitive salary budget in L1. Possibly top 6, definitely top 10. Even the biggest clubs fail to land players due to personal terms. It's football.
Well it looks like at least 2 or more have turned us down so far this transfer window / so it’s not looking very competitive
Never heard of him, a garbage underwhelming signing lol, tin pot yet again, and absolutely no ambition.
I’m not sure our budget will even be top 10 in this season’s L1. I’d expect Brum, Wrexham, Bolton, Huddersfield, Rotherham, Wigan, Blackpool, Reading, Charlton, Posh and possibly even Wycombe to be paying more.
Yeah Marc, totally get you, but there is a pattern developing. I'm all for being prudent but If we keep missing out because of our structure (overly prudent) then something has to give. We don't seem to be aiming for anything other than L1 consolidation at times. Given our recent history I'd like us to show just a modicum of ambition otherwise we'll quite easily be in L2 or Conference, as a 'well run club'. It's a tough balance, I don't know how we address it.
Can't believe we still have to change X links to Twitter for them to show the tweet without clicking on it, sort it
Makes me smile when people say we don’t need to panic cos there’s another four weeks before the window shuts but unfortunately at the pace we’re going at to bring new players in that probably equates to two new players before the end of August.
Two late loans is my guess. Can still be a good season if we get them right. Just hope we got off to a decent start.
It’s about time this club got in the real world, offering 500 quid a week just ain’t going to cut it anymore. Another failed transfer window, quite possible the 4th or 5th on the trot. Shambles.
Trying to be positive but this is 2 that we kno about that have dropped out at the last minute. The lad from Mansfield is another but his club didn't want to sell. surely the players are informed of the wages/ Deal before the club agrees terms. looks like were kicking off with gaps at LWB, Striker and Keeper. Also we've let Shepard go..
