Its based on pension credit I believe. So if someone earns over the threshold for pension credit, then they won't receive winter allowance. Like my mother. Which she's fine with. So no, its not millionaires and billionaires alone... But they still get paid it at present, which surely you don't agree with?
Off the top of my head:- Germany Austria (although it would have to be a very small boat) France Italy Spain Belgium Poland Holland Ireland That's just in Europe. I'm sure there are several more around the world.
You've answered it there mate as to where the problem lies. Governments and the mega wealthy are the ones to have put us in this situation. That's exactly where all of the understandable anger of us working people who are struggling should be directed. Not at other suffering people with less than us.
I might actually vote for one of those next time. I'm imagining the scenes in the House of Commons, with all the new MPs sniffing each other's crotches on their first day.
To be fair, such behaviour is already much less common given the significant reduction of numbers in the tory benches.
no, I think Clary was accused of fi*t*** Lamont (not sure why I recall that and can't believe I've just typed it! but hey-ho) COYR
Not that either. Julian Clary jokingly claimed to have fisted Norman Lamont backstage at the comedy awards.
This is nonsense. Complete garbage. Un-vetted lies trotted out without verification. You say our country is divided, the reason is because people like you believe bullshìt on social media, then share it as if it's truth. You are the problem.
I totally agree with this part of your comment. I personally think the country has been deteriorating for a long time. Austerity has ruined peoples' lives, people are effectively begging at food banks for basics. Little kids dont get fed and clothed properly before they're sent to school. People haven't got enough money basically and although I can't prove it I think its partly down to the free market economics of Thatcherism which has distorted the distribution of wealth and dried up public investment. Coupled with the austerity I mentioned and the lack of tangible benefits from brexit and people are desperate, angry, and starting to lash out. The focus for this 'lashing out' is Muslims and asylum seekers as the economic problems I've mentioned have been twisted into aggressive cultural issues by far right nationalists. The vast, vast majority of muslims and asylum seekers are peaceful, and indeed most Muslim are British, but to the far-right the easy option is to pick on groups of people who SEEM to be the cause of decline and decay. Muslims, asylum seekers and anybody else who gets picked on aren't the cause of a declining Britain however and anybody targeted by hate should be stoutly defended. The false often racist narrative against individuals and minorities should be countered at every turn and countered aggressively both in words and in actions to start addressing genuine causes of decline.
I'd love to actually see a cookie-based representation of wealth between Murdoch and an average brickie. Rupert's would fill that room I'd imagine.
What? Apart from the claim we're the most taxed country in the world? Or the bit about us being the only country to clothe and feed asylum seekers? That ********? The rest I'll grant you is just general right wing whataboutery and finger pointing.
If you counted at a rate of a number a second it would take you 11.5 days to count to a million. For a billion it would be 31.5 years. The difference is mind boggling and there is no need for that level of wealth to exist.
The government don't give foreign aid simply out of the goodness of their hearts. Britain benefits from trade deals. And the asylum seekers living in hotels aren't having a holiday experience. Of course other countries feed, house and clothe asylum seekers.
Oh right so it's not happening then and it's all the 'far right and EDL's fault, the EDL that we haven't seen for years. Normal non rioting people can't possibly be unhappy. That speech from the spineless coward Starmer was an absolute disgrace yesterday and an insult to the British public. Not one mention of any other riot or atrocity but hammered the far right/EDL, rightly so but where is the balance?
