I know the release clause is irrelevant at this point now, as nobody is paying £2m with him only having a year left on his deal, but I don't think we should be accepting the first bid either. If there is rumoured interest from other championship and MLS clubs, we'd be mental to jump at the first offer. It's funny, people have banged on for years about us letting go of players too cheaply, but now because it's a player our fans want shut of, we're happy to let him go below his valuation. We've got replacements for Styles, so we're in no hurry to sell, let's sit on it until later in the window and see if we get closer to a million.
The problem is that it's been shown a few times now that despite interest and agreements between Barnsley and a buying club it's actually really difficult to get them to finalise a contract with him so leaving it late in the hopes of getting a bit of extra money could well mean we agree a few with a club who then doesn't end uo signing him and we're stuck paying his wages for another year while getting nothing in return from him.

I'd say both can be true at the same time. He isn't going to come out and say "He doesn't want to be here, we can't wait to get rid of him". Plus atm we've got 2 Lwbs if he stays, so I think it's a realistic possibility he's here this season. Similar to what's happening with Sancho at Man Utd
