Slippery slope from here, for me. I always hoped Sky would stick to the PL and largely leave us alone. It will only get worse from here IMO, as TV scheduling takes priority, fans become 2nd class citizens and gradually get priced out of things. Only a matter of time I reckon. It's going to massively impact whether or not we renew STs next year as a family.
Am hoping 'my mates' stick updates as it still only has an ifollow category and no sky sports+ So he sez.
Good news for me, as I've not got a ST this season (first time since the 90s), so it's Sky and hopefully iFollow on VPN if it's still possible. I don't think it'll have too much impact on attendances, local people, which is the majority, will still go to the ground. If I lived in/near Barnsley I'd still have a ST, it's mainly the travelling that has put me off.
Another nail in the coffin of sky killing the game. Saturation football for armchair fans of the game will take its toll. How anyone can watch so much is beyond me. When sky got involved (30+ years ago) it spoiled it for me. Gave up watching live games on tv altogether. Love Barnsley fc hate football beyond that. Depressing read imo. https://efl.com/news/2023/may/efl-and-sky-sports-broadcast-rights-agreement/
Following on from this, there are 30 (THIRTY) games live on Sky on Saturday. It's a bit bonkers this new deal, isn't it?
Too much choice. Might go for Peterborough vs Huddersfield in our league in the half 5 games. Looks the best of the bunch.
It’s ****. It just is. I’ve got no enthusiasm at all for tomorrow night. Will either have to re-arrange birthday plans or miss the Stockport game. It’s the least excited I am about a new season for as long as I can remember if not ever.
Ah, the tyranny of choice, indeed. Thankfully last night has freed me from the dilemma - I really don't feel like watching another football match right now.
