He's just said that he is disappointed with his performance. Which is actually really good to hear imo. Means he's got his head screwed on right
Let's face it. That brawl earlier on was far more exciting than the main event. They all ought to have to scrap like that.
Classy words at the end especially about the family who suffered such losses - top lad. After tonight he’ll have gained even more support.
What a night. Fantastic card of exciting fights, every one of which, on paper, could've gone either way. Great night for boxing, great night for Barnsley and, most of all, a great night for Callum Simpson. Chelli spoke disparagingly of the town in the build up. Well don't worry lad. Thanks to Callum, you'll never have to come back.
Chelli will have a place on the mini bus back home. Many sports, music stars and celebs leave their home town and heritage behind on the up. Callum is taking the town with him.
Must admit, never been a boxing fan, however I watched the whole fight tonight because how can you not? Callum is the one boxer I'm interested in watching. He seems like a fantastic bloke, confident but down to earth, SO proud of being from Barnsley, and whilst I know almost zero about the sport, he looks to me to have a great attitude. On the front foot, going for it. Really enjoyed the whole spectacle. Well done and congratulations Callum!
I like competitive boxing. Olympic boxing, most domestic level boxing and most major title fights are competitive. I don't like seeing fighters being overmatched to satisfy the bloodlust of the masses. There is something primal but mesmerising about one-to-one combat in an enclosed space, with nowhere to hide. Boxing is a great sport but sadly, a foul and corrupt business.
Agreed. Just the way to be. Loved that he said his coach wasn't happy. Better to concentrate on what you can improve on, than what you did well. Time to clean up the British and Commonwealth contenders before moving to European level. It's just a shame Barnsley doesn't have an arena for his fights in the colder months.
Never watched any boxing at all, but at the risk of sounding like my grandma it seems like everybody's had a nice time, so that's good.
No idea. Far too small for Callum. He will have to fight at Sheffield or Leeds, which is a shame. I'd be shocked if he wasn't parading his titles before the match on Friday.
