@Red Mist international laws mean that every country have to accept asylum seekers It isn't an option to use the navy to " turn them back"
What is an option is to improve the application process so it's done more speedily and those who are claiming refuge can integrate and work and contribute to British society asap. If we stop immigration today, hypothetically, who is going to care for you when you're older, who's going to work in our hospitals, pick the fruit and veg?
Put yourself is their shoes, would you rather stay in your country of birth with your family, or face a very uncertain journey to a country that you know little about on an overcrowded boat?
The Tory press, Farage etc want you to believe all the country's ills are because of immigration, it's the easy scapegoat.

Why would you think the navy would be placed anywhere to “push them back”? who ever them are?

Ah yes, that'll be why they looted Greggs and burnt down a citizens advice bureau. Makes sense.

That is not a protest, it is criminal damage and looting.

I have just finished reading Julia Bond’s excellent book “A Village in the Third Reich”. What we’re seeing now is history repeating itself.
It’s like Kristallnacht all over again.

It's odd. There are 4 or 5 who post every day (I know this, because I'm sad enough to post every day too), yet today we haven't heard a peep.

Hopefully this is just a coincidence and they're on holiday or summat.

Who are you aiming these comments at though, and is there any need for doing that.

Now is exactly the time to call out abhorrent racist behavior, be it posts on here or attending riots. Those who stay silent are enablers.

Go on then, why hold back, name and shame them if you know who they are.
I hate seeing cowards on protests, who hide behind their masks.

I don't know exactly how I'd change it, but Remembrance Day needs to be done differently this year. "Lest we forget" is a cliché, it has lost all meaning. It is shamefully clear that large sections of the population have forgotten, or perhaps more worryingly, don't care.

I’m from Wath, but don’t live in the UK. I am shocked at the abhorrent scenes. From following a Wath facebook page, it is clear some from Wath and the local area were involved, but also people arriving in minibuses.

What is equally shocking is that some on the Wath facebook group are legitimising the violence and the attitude towards vulnerable asylum seekers. There are those who are posting back though with anti-fascist views also.

My fear for the country (and it may happen in other countries too as it has in Germany before) is the online direction of this at one level and the perpetuation of lies at another. Truly worrying and concerning.

Agreed red helen,I have no problem with legal migration.I don't know the numbers but I'm sure there is a limit we take each year or we would bust at the seems.
Just seems to me that people should use the correct way of applying and wait their turn.As you say process probably needs to be more efficient.
Can someone explain to me why it's predominantly single young males who take the risk ?.

Easier to relocate than an entire family. More capable of surviving the danger? Best placed to earn money and send it home to their family? Hard to say but these are logical arguments that make sense

That's the problem, as an asylum seeker it's basically impossible to apply before you get here these days. It tends to be single males because the trip is expensive and dangerous, so they go first and then if approved it is easier for them to arrange safe passage for their family members.

Yes, come on Fonzie, name the names of those you think they were rioting JUST because they didn't post on here yesterday.
