Having seen the unrest up and down the country, would you still consider attending such a “protest”

The can't work whilst being processed, which is one of many reasons we need a full reform of the system to make it more efficient. If they are unsuccessful then it's the government that picks up the tab - again, another reason the whole process needs to move quicker.

I didn't say that - I said that I hope it was a coincidence that they were silent yesterday, either in condemning the attacks or otherwise.

Like I said, I hope our Reform voting posters on here have all gone to the seaside - you can get their names nice and easily from the "Who will you vote for thread".

Although one has just popped up in the last half hour, so you can tick that one off as a starter for ten.

Edit: and the one who threatened me on Saturday night dissapeared yesterday also. So that's a bonus one for you.

Here's a thought regarding those who are fleeing not war zones but areas of extreme poverty.
Rory Stewart, who is heavily involved in poverty relief worldwide, has said that one highly effective way of lifting people out of those circumstances is not general aid relief but giving individuals money directly. People so poor that just surviving day to day is a challenge won't squander direct monetary aid on beer and fags or the like but will invest it in things that immediately impact their circumstances. Buying a cow or a goat etc. It's been proven to work.
I'd love to see the reaction of the rioters, however, if it was suggested that a partial solution to the refugee crisis would be giving money in foreign aid direct to those in poverty so that they can prosper in their home in the communities they are only driven out of by starvation.

Article 14 of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Right disagrees with your opinion.

they don’t work, they are not allowed. They are forced to live in hotels as the last shambles of a Tory government chose to not bother building correct immigration infrastructure. The upkeep is ours, it’s a very minimal cost compared to the welfare budget. Again a quick processing of claims in the correct manner would enable asylum seakers the opportunity to work far quicker, benefiting everyone.

Indeed, what is needed is those who are against the aims of the protestors to organise counter-demonstrations as they did in Cable Street in the 1930s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Cable_Street

Wait till he finds out how old the Magna Carta is.

Yet that was gospel the other year.

Fascism started in the middle and upper classes. That's where it took hold (and tbf most other revolutions too). They then drip the poison to the lower class who they send out to do the dirty work.

Probably out of embarrassment rather than anything else. Give it 24 hours though and they start to resurface with the foreign rapists bull***.

Someone who isn’t prepared to cover for people who are racist cretins. I don’t want my kids to grow up in a world where the most vulnerable are stigmatised and bullied and people try to set them on fire. Sorry if that’s a bit much, but I think everyone regardless of the place they happened to be born should get a fair chance at life.

That's the last thing a small stretched Police force needs.
