Relatively he wasn't far off. His family owned a number of Diamond Mines in Tanzania (I think).

He was born into an incredibly wealthy family.

As for the bloke who asked about evidence of racism, a quick Google search will give you thousands of examples.

From people that have met him, he is a very strange individual - lack of eye contact, etc - that could be described as being neurodiverse. He *could* be a savant but given his mutterings on how Twitter works, its clear that he doesn't know much about how large tech platforms work.

Surely I’m not the only one who thinks there’s not much wrong there? He’s not been derogatory, in fact the first two I would like to know the answers to what he’s posted. And no, not because of the guys skin colour but because of the severity of the crimes. Jail time for a tweet or community service for raping a girl, that girl now has a life sentence hanging over her while he has 180 hours of litter picking. That’s not fair.

The Family Guy meme is exactly that, a meme, should be taken in jest.

obviously as you posted so many then he’s very active on the topic right now, but he shouldn’t be viewed as villain based on *those* tweets, if other tweets are worse then people can call him whatever, but it won’t do much - he’s the richest guy in the world and we all know backhanders get given here there and everywhere.

Given he rescinded bans on numerous far right people (and a very well known rapist) who were banned before he acquired twitter, there's maybe a clue to his alt feelings.

If his brain was that efficient you’d think he’d use it for more than being a prolifically massive b3llend on social media day in day out.

He’s also followed around by a retinue of fan boys on Twitter who weirdly support everything he says while being exactly the same people who love saying folk like Gary Lineker should ‘sTiCk tO fOoTbAll mAtE’

To cover the first 2 tweets...

    1) The prime minister's comments on protecting Muslim communities and Mosques was a direct response to the DIRECT ATTACKS ON MOSQUES AND MUSLIM COMMUNITIES over the last few days. It was clearly context specific. Elon Musk shared it with 200 million followers worldwide without presenting context. He also used the far right hashtag in a follow up tweet. You only need to look at the responses to see the problem.

    2) you really should look at the facts before basing your opinion on a meme (that's what it is by the way.. you can't choose what is 'just a meme')

Person 1: Sean Tuck. The former non league footballer jailed for posting horrendous targeted attacks online towards an individual Muslim. It was a second offence having previously been jailed for online islamophobic posts relating to "gassing all mosques"

    https://www.cheshire-live.co.uk/new.../former-non-league-footballer-posted-28729820

Person 2: Sam Melia. Committed a 3 year national campaign of anti immigration and antisemitic "postering". Producing and distributing stickers and posters encouraging violence towards minorities. He was prosecuted under the terrorism act.The guy had a portrait of Hitler in his house.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-68448867.amp

Person 3: Hamoud Al Soaimi. He was indeed involved with an Asian grooming gang that did unspeakable things to a 13 year old girl. There does need to be significantly more context than what the meme presents mind. Al Soaimi was 15 at the time and, at the admission of the girl herself in court, believed she was also 15. Not that it justified what they did to her but the photo is from him as 23 year old man when the case was prosecuted.

The ring leader of the group of youths in this gang was handed 18 years in prison, the other 2 involved got 13 and 5 & a half years respectively. Al Soaimi was considered to have been lead badly astray as a young impressionable man. He was given a 2 year suspended jail sentences. 10 years on the sex offenders register and the community service mentioned.

I really didn't want to have to read any of that.. but context matters. Something Elon Musk did not provide when he shared it with 200 million people.

Genius level intellect? Maybe. Common sense and rational thought? Not a jot.

If he managed to trap himself in a car door, that would be one of his greatest achievements, given his gargantuan case of little man syndrome.

    You couldn't make it up.

Incredibly successful immigrant, who is self-made considering he's lost everything at least once to my knowledge, employs thousands of people, promotes and develops sustainable, green technology, plays a major a role in developing sustainable rocket technology (he is involved, in one way or another, in designing every single component of SpaceX rockets), provides internet access to remote communities around the world... challenges your beloved Keir (whether he's full informed or not), and he's a white supremacist far right Nazi, according to the BBS. This board is honestly nuts. Aren't you meant to be rationale, considered adults?

I'm as appalled by the riots as anyone else. But grow up for crying out loud.

As a previous poster eluded to, Elon is neurodiverse. While having a brilliantly creative brain, he does lack many emotions and thought processes that other humans have. That will be the reason why most people don’t understand his view points.

RamTam explained it well in his last sentence.

Doesn't matter about neurodiversity if the person in question expresses conservative sentiments. Just throw Elon off a cliff, ey.

Assuming it's true... Those thought processes + global audience + getting publicly involved in international issues without establishing facts = very bad. Right?

I’m sure his occasionally awkward manner could be a result of his neurodiversity. However, that doesn’t explain his social media output which is incredibly right wing and extremely one sided, with him often retweeting obviously far right accounts that spew a continuous stream of content that, at best, lacks context, but is more often complete bullsh1t. And he knows that, but it suits his political agenda to churn it out.

And being a genius doesn’t preclude him from being a massive pr1ck.

He's getting involved in British social politics while riots are taking place without establishing context for what he's sharing. He's directly engaging with, and amplifying posts by, Tommy Robinson.

Not throwing him off a cliff... telling him not to get involved and pick a side in foreign affairs without bothering to fact check.

Musk did very well in initially cultivating an image for himself as some sort of philanthropic engineer genius but it's all fallen apart as he's revealed that he's a businessman not an engineer and a nasty piece of work.

He didn't start Tesla, his tweets about the programming elements of Twitter are nonsense, as is some of the engineering stuff he posts (e.g. supposed engineering tolerances of the Cybertruck, which is a hilariously bad vehicle). He likes to paint himself as doing all the technical work but in reality he doesn't.

As a person he's allegedly been a delinquent and abusive father and husband and I think his true colours first started to show when he called a rescue diver a paedo for not indulging his nonsense vanity submarine suggestion to rescue those kids trapped in the cave.

    Well let's ban X then.

I see far left propaganda on here every day, but I've not turned into a screeching communist nut who thinks we should all have the same hair cut and have a picture of Chairman Starmer above our government-issued fireplace. And while I know that's likely most on here, I still think you're probably decent people with good intentions. It's wanting to set people on fire that we disagreed with that has led us to where we are.

Don't worry about what other people are saying. People know Tommy Robinson is a moron. People have agency. You shouldn't be worried about Elon. A smart person would use what Elon is saying to strength his own arguments.
