These are horrible acts, but hopefully teachable moments. I genuinely believe the vast majority of bigotry is borne out of ignorance and misinformation. Certainly in the case of the cannon fodder out there on the streets. People aren’t born bigots; it’s taught and can be untaught. As painful as it is to get there, I do hope civilised society will play their part in helping people, to change these mad beliefs.
If she gets away with it with her apology it sends the wrong message. She’s only sorry for getting found out for the racist that she is.
James O'Brien has been directly engaging with these types of people for years. It must be so frustrating when he proves with evidence and facts that their beliefs are misguided and they still walk away convinced they are right.
She says she was given wrong and malicious information. Presumably about the origin and religion of the Southport killer. Also, presumably, if that information had been correct she'd have been quite comfortable with her comments calling for all the hotels full of asylum seekers to be set on fire.
I look forward to her being asked that question in court James O'B had an amazing one yesterday where a guy called up to defend Tommy Robinson using basically this argument. That the riot in Southport happened because of the misinformation of the Muslim name and the fact that it was implied the attacker was an illegal immigrant. He quickly began backpedalling when questioned if the name had been correct whether the attacks on British Muslims would have been justified.
For sure. I'm in no way trying to defend any of these behaviours by the way. They're deplorable and indefensible. Just trying to maybe understand them better. Impossible to fix a problem if you don't understand it. Many are already lost causes like, but we should never stop trying.
The 39 protests being told yesterday was enough, but the figure is much higher. Hopefully those locked up are educated whilst inside so they come out a better person.
Counter protests are not a good idea in my opinion. It only takes a few people in one of them to get carried away, or for individuals to be “planted” into them for the whole “it’s both sides” narrative to become true.
SKY news bloke, just stated..... "this weekend is the start of the Championship season, football fans will be crisscrossing the country and we all know that many football fans identify as far right". Really?
Current argument being peddled by the 15 nazi twitter instigators and their bot army: "It's clearly 2 tier policing, otherwise why can we sentence rioters this quickly but not someone who murdered 3 little girls?" I'm genuinely lost for words
