I was scrolling down this thread in disbelief it had been overlooked. Incredible goal, which I was also sitting right behind.
Can I just give a shout out to Ali Millar away against Donny at Belle Vue in the 70’s. Edge of the box free kick and he dinks (can’t think of a better word for it) it over the wall into the net - as a young ‘in I’d never seen anything like it! Saw Ali with his missus in the Botanist a few week ago and embarrassed him by going and shaking his hand and reminding him of the goal. Anyone else remember it and was it as good as I recall?
Some great ones mentioned. Individual ones etc. But for sheer blown away, hair stand on end. Ian Banks v Cardiff injury time winner. 40 yarder (League cup) If the net hadn't got in the way. The ball would have finished up in locke park. And no, I'm not kidding. Well maybe a little. Silkstone pub.
Remember Remember it well. 78/79 season and Reds fans took over Belle Vue that day. Big Trev's against Brighton in the League Cup stands out for me. Plus Banks winning goal against Wednesday - both in 1981
I do & was going to post the same. Cheers for putting the video on. It’s the second best hat trick I’ve ever seen. The best was Rivaldo’s for Barca against Valencia.
Barnard against Huddersfield is the best but it’s hard to imagine anything will become my favourite over Hammill at Wembley. To do that on the biggest stage was something else, so much for the cagey, nervy games you often get in a final!
Werling's free kick against whoever it was. Ref delayed game for about 25 minutes and Dom was stood with that ridiculous 40 yard run up for an age. Probably the only thing he ever did for us.
Love that goal. Just something I've noticed on the slow motion footage, somehow he's managed to hit underneath the ball and generate backspin, watch the markings on the ball. That somehow makes it even more remarkable that it didn't go soaring over the bar.
Barnard, absolutely no doubt about it. I remember Anthony Kay scoring a screamer at home, against Hull/Plymouth/Stoke (can't remember tbh). Not seen it in years.
