I have some sympathy with your argument, but surely £100 isn’t going to make much difference. My memory might be faulty, but I don’t recall all this fuss when the ConDems brought forward the pension age increase which left many women, who had stayed at home to look after children and therefore didn’t accrue occupational pensions (which was more the norm in earlier times), having to work for an additional 6 years. But then they had conned people into believing that the nation’s credit card had been ‘maxed out’. The loss of income to those women absolutely dwarfs any loss of heating allowance. Funny old world.

It’s so rich that many young people have absolutely no chance of getting on the housing ladder.

Exactly mate. 5th richest economy in the world with a national net work of foodbanks to help feed its citizens.
Embarrassing but accepted by so many as the norm now.

although with equality being bandied about , they were never going to reduce men’s’ retirement date, they were always going to increase the women’s in line with men’s.

for me the bigger picture is our youngsters as the state pension is classed as a benefit - which means it can be tampered with by any government . Over time it will likely be chipped away at. we pay into a personal pension for our children so at least they’ve got a head start
