What kind of idiot goes in to season with watters and Cosgrove upfront, two new strikers needed or we are in for a long long season
The club has no money. The owners aren’t willing to spend over the odds. We shouldn’t be surprised really. I just hope the rot doesn’t set in and the atmosphere gets toxic, otherwise it could be a long, long season.
Tbf.. our new left wing back lasted 20 minutes our new goalie didn't get a game and our new centre mid and skipper were both subbed off.. not the best night for our recruitment team. But not to worry John McAtee is s'hite and we didn't want him..
I cant agree with this. We have lost all our highest earner's apparently. We have sold millions. We have increased TV income by 3 million apparently with the new deal. Just where is this money going? Absolutely no way should we be still losing money... If we are, then serious questions about how we are run need answering.
I honestly don't know how you can say that when they're pumping in 5 million a season to keep us going. Willing??? Clearly we need additions, I think we will make them. It's a shame we didn't get them earlier but I still maintain it's better getting our main targets than going in early and getting worse ones. What a vile bloke you are by the way.
We've sold millions but we don't get it all in a lump sum mate. However, there's no reason we can't also do the same structure of deal. Whether or not the clubs we purchase from will accept 750k over a 3 year period is another question and perhaps why we don't seem to do it as often. If the board don't manage to get in at least 3 players though I think they're in for a rough time, there's no question now at all (even though we said so before) but unless we get someone up front it's going to turn badly.
I love it that selectively forget our ownership regime are all minted. Maybe if they weren't running the club down so much they wouldn't have to prop it up so much.
What’s rubbish? The finances speak for themselves. We can’t compete with the top clubs in this league financially.
Look at the latest financial reports. The club doesn’t make loads of money. The owners are plugging a gap. They’re not willing to spend over the odds - I never said they’re not willing to spend.
Recruitment has been poor for the last few years in fairness. Reminds me alot of Southampton years back when they were able to sign an unknown for pennies and flog them to Liverpool for 50 million. Unfortunately that talent pool gets smaller and smaller and you’re left with the dregs that aren’t that decent IE DeGivenchy, Cosgrove, Earl etc. I’m terrified of a full season playing O’Keefe, and/or Cotter. I think they’re a waste of a shirt. The midfield 3 is ok, but the rest are proper below average.
I'd suggest losing at least 5 million a year just keeping the club afloat is already over the odds mate. We do have plenty of money coming in over the next couple of years, but it's very spread out. Darragh McAntony mentioned on talksport that being in the Championship gives a club an extra 15 million a season...
The problem is, it’s not a fair game. Our owners are trying to do things the right way, but they’re fighting a losing battle. Football is a money pit and the bigger clubs are just willing to get into debt to push on. I’m not saying that’s the right way to do it.
