I am pleased that they've apparently dropped that ludicrous rule, of not signing players over 23. And with Hourihane and Roberts coming back, that is a good sign of course. But for whatever reasons (yet again this season!), they have left us totally exposed and lacking in the striking and keeping areas. And the season has started already.
It is frustrating that they’ve not managed to get someone in but I think it will be sorted by the end of the window. frustrating yes but I think given the amount of money they have, the budget is being used wisely. I was also impressed with Watters last night. He looked sharp. Given a run of games if he plays like that he will score.
Hey Chef, speaking of the work that Max Watters puts in, and it goes unnoticed. We used to have this problem remember, with a certain Daniel Nardiello. Frustrating as hell at times, and lazy, but as a striker he knew where the net was. Compare that to the hard working strikers we also had then, like Marc Richards and Tommy Wright. Sadly between them, they could hardly hit the proverbial barn door.
It's been flogged to death this point how many times does it have to be said for people to understand the process. James Cryne is only 1 part of a recruitment team, we use a data model like most if not all clubs, Mladen would deal with players agents and the financial side of any deal but at some point clarke is involved in the process he said so himself only within the last 7 days, there's no great conspiracy theory going off, we've missed out on some players but are working on other deals to bring players in.
Is James Cryne still involved in this process? I recall his former company was wrapped up. though I don't think that impacted us necessarily, just any ability to sell services to others... that boat was missed it would seem. I thought I saw comment (can't recall where) suggesting we'd actually watched a player several times which seems a departure (along with loans and the signing of a couple of former experienced players) to our model.
Agreed. We were in the Championship and needed a bit of investment but they didn't. It's costing them now. It was very short sighted of them.
Earl and MDG have been awful signings. Neither can defend to save their lives and the more I see of O’Keefe the worse he seems to get. Yes, we need a couple of forwards but that’s not the only issue.
Do you cry when south Park's on TV? Too many sensitive people on here so have changed the wording to idiot.
cotter/okeefe/MDG/Earl - the defence is poor - we conceded far too many goals last season and we’ve started in the same vein
I didn't take much notice of the figures because IMO it wouldn't matter if it was 3 million each or 10 million each. The only advantage of having money is when you have it and your competitors don't. Everyone having the same increase in funds only leads to the same quality of player we can afford now costing more and asking for bigger wages.
It can't be that low surely. That's less than 5500 quid per home game which means clubs will definitely be losing money. \
