The fanzone just looked tired and unloved.
Carparking was an absolute **** show
Prices sky rocketed at the kiosks
Service at said kiosks appeared worse than before (yeah I know, I didn't think it was possible either)
We won't talk about the TVs that have been broken for 10 months!!!
Advertising boards seemingly thrown up last minute in random places around the pitch made us look tinpot in my opinion
Bins full of the clubs commercial waste overflowing on the floor in the concourse
Toby tyke wandering around like a zombie

It just all seemed so none league and desperate. Like a club barely surviving and doing the bare minimum to get by while trying to rinse out every penny from supporters for the least possible investment.

    Very poor

There’s a stench of league 2 in the air, we are going backwards at a rapid rate. That’s where we’ll end up.

I don't complain about the club much but the prices for the pxss poor service and choice of food and drinks is not acceptable. £8 for a hot dog £6.50 for a Madri. This can't be allowed.

Don't pay it, I refused I'm not skint or tight but I am not paying it.

I am not for protests but if we all stop using the refreshments stalls they have to do something about the costs qualityvsnd service.

    ITS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Agreed was horrendous last season looked better and was getting there, but they’ve got a million times worse.

We had fire cannons, those electronic advertising boards all sorts last season. Staff were engaging and all new at least how to serve someone a drink and smile..
yes maybe Throwing money away but we gone totally other way.

They must be that busy signing all these players to be bothered about the match day experience. Who knows.

    £3.50 for a coke
    £3.50 for some fruit pastilles

    airport prices.

staff didn’t want to be there and like they had all just started and didn’t have a clue what they were doing.

    very very poor.

The owners and club really, really do not help themselves with off pitch/matchday stuff.

There's absolutely no justification, financial or otherwise, for:

    • £6.50 pints of Madri they'll be bulk buying for tuppence, same with £3+ soft drinks
    • £4 bags of sweets
    • Televisions constantly not working
    • A sub par fanzone
    • £29 walk up tickets for a game vs Mansfield Town in League 1
    • An almost total lack of media comms
On pitch stuff, signing players etc. is more important - but it would be so comparatively easy to improve things off the pitch for the people that actually matter - the supporters - at a time of austerity and general malaise. I don't understand why the club seem to be doing the opposite.

Pubs dont get 10000 customers in one place at the same time.
If they can't make a profit at £5 a pint then there is a problem.
    Sell more, faster and cheaper.
Happy customers enjoying the experience, common sense and simple.

I don't drink Madri, but between £5-6. Some places you might pay a bit more than that, but for top notch stuff, e.g. Neck Oil, Gamma Ray etc. But that's in a lovely setting. £6.50 for a pint of lager, in a plastic cup, in a cold grey concrete space, with no seating, which you have to queue 20 minutes for, is terrible value. Last season I turned up an hour before and had a couple of pints. I won't now. I'll stay in town and turn up 5 minutes before. I want to give the Club my money, but time and again they fail to offer facilities worth paying for. They just put the prices up 20% and nothing else changes.

Racecourses do and probably charge more - most entertainment venues mark up prices - more expensive when I've been to Arena in Liverpool. 7-8 pound a pint. Airports have thousands and charge big prices for food and drink

Nobody saying it's right but you do generally pay more at venues like this

Nobody said they did it does seem to be norm at most places when they have a captive audience. Beer prices are too expensive in general - it's why pubs are closing at a rate of knots and people drink at home

The Madri fancy dispensing machine broke down on the stroke of half time under the east stand. Didn't get served elsewhere till just about the start of the second half. Wonderful.

    All this for £6.50.

£6.50 a pint of Jute in the Ponty is acceptable for superb, local(ish) beer. You're unlikely to find it cheaper anywhere except a supermarket.

Yes, it's expensive but there's a lot of tax, plus the cost price of making real beer is significant. Hops are very expensive and it's an extremely energy-intensive industry. No complaints from me. But I'm happy to pay for good beer. Madri on the other hand is absolutely rank.

Having said that, Lincoln's fan zone next week will put ours to shame, and it's such an easy thing to set up. The caveat being that at Sincil Bank you can access it at half time. Not sure if that would be logistically possible at Oakwell, but it's worth looking into.

Then like Clarke changed the team and formation around after a bad start I'm sure the club can change it for the next home game.
I'll put it down to a bad catering start.

It is worse than last season that's my yard stick not an airport or racecourse.
BTW I'm not disagreeing with you it is the norm.

Wasn't looking for a disagreement- was generally curious as to how much a drink was in Barnsley. I struggle to get change from 13 pound for two pints

£4.80 when they have it on in Heaven and Ale. As is every IPA they put on, apart from the 7%ers which are still less than £6.50.
