As I’ve said in other posts, how do we know Styles is in the wrong here? In Clarke’s own words, multiple times, Clarke has said he doesn’t have any issue with Styles and they are on the same page.

The best thing is he’s moved on and we take what we get. In hindsight, the situation with Styles has been allowed to fester for years and caused more harm than good for all parties.

Pretty sure Clarke said his mindset wasn't right to play because of interest from other clubs. Pretty clear to me what that means.

He then said he’d rather play players in the right mindset (so Clarke’s selection choice) and he doesn’t have a problem with Styles.

I think you are clutching at straws a bit in defence of Styles.
It's right not to totally destroy Styles over this and you are right it was Clarkes decision to keep him out of the squad.
I have now lost all patience with the Styles situation and fully expected him to start last night at LWB and would have welcomed him playing but he is not injured and is fit. If he is leaving or not as a professional footballer contracted to a club the minimum is you are in the right mindset to play whenever we have a game unless you have personal family issues that come first, the chance of signing for another team isn't a valid reason.

I’ve never been a big fan of Styles & I want shut ASAP but let’s not pretend this is all on the player.

The club will have been touting him round to get shut of him & his wages all summer.

Im not defending Styles. It’s in everyone’s interest he moves on, more so after Clarkes comments. All I’m saying is we don’t know the full situation so a full pile on the kid maybe isn’t the best thing to do while he’s still a Barnsley player. There is a possibility he’s still contracted to us til season’s end and we have to pay his wages til then. I don’t think that’s a scenario that would be beneficial to anyone.

So Basically barnsley want a certain figure...styles head is never gonna be right because he wants out. So Basically Styles is forcing the move and knows eventually we will sell him for a reduced amount as the club doesn't have the guts to stick him in the reserves to rot.
Player power again...whatever happened to honouring Yr contract

Why would the club want to 'stick him in the reserves to rot' though? It helps no one, particularly us. We're still paying his wages, we'll lose out on a fee, it impacts our player budget and will cause some degree of disruption to our staff for the rest of the year. All to pi$$ him off for the season? Makes no sense whatsoever. We need to be moving him on. If that means we take a hit on our asking price, so be it. He clearly isn't gonna be a helpful addition to the squad now.

6 years since we signed him. Even if there is a release clause, it probably only represents a ‘break even’ amount, or at best a very small profit. The real return would probably only have been realised if we won promotion with Big Val.

Styles is creator of his own and the clubs problems because he’s not doing enough anywhere to trigger that clause. He wants to win the lottery without buying a ticket.

I’d give him away just to get shut. No one wants a bad egg stinking out the club.
