Sheffield Wednesday threatening to kick fans out who wear counterfeit shirts. https://www.themag.co.uk/2024/08/sh...rfeit shirts, impact directly on club revenues. Maybe don’t sell the home shirt for £70 and supporters might not buy fake ones!
One thing not mentioned is historical kits both fake and real, surely that would confuse things a bit.
I’d imagine it is try to deter people from buying fake tops and the club won’t (or can’t) act on it. Just a bizarre statement to put out.
Fake shirt sales having an effect on sales has been churned out by him. I think he'd find most who buy a fake shirt do so because it's all they can afford and if no fake shirt was available they still wouldn't be buying the real thing.
you'd think so. dress code isn't a new thing, it's been around forever. however that's typically based on not being allowed entry. not sure I've heard of people being kicked out of somewhere based on what they're wearing. I'd love to see that being enforced.
There was a thing about Cricket a few years back ........ can't remember the exact scenario but wasn't it something like Coca Cola as the main sponsor and Pepsi were outside giving out large Pepsi cups and T-Shirts? Groundstaff were told not to let Pepsi wearers in?
I think the Dutch football fans have been caught out for similar. I'm sure (really hoping) there's a more recent example than this. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/media/2006/jun/19/marketingandpr.worldcup2006
Crackers, but I guess they're allowed to refuse entry. No different to a boozer saying 'no baseball caps' I guess? the thing is it's obviously gonna be impossible to police. Imagine doing an authenticity check on every shirt
I'm still laughing at the fact someone's made snide Wednesday shirts, the Powerhouse of English football...
beat me to it. Didn’t they have fake taxi, fake power drink sponsors? they should all turn up in Utd shirts
I’d hope I would be turned away if I ever tried to get in the home end Seriously though how are they going to police that
Not 100% sure it applies specifically/exclusively to team replica shirts. Imagine if we did it and it included fake stone island/canada goose etc. There'd only be 200 folk left in Ponty End at full time
