With very little ‘tinternet, checked out on here and bloody hell its depressing ( the OTT reactions) not the team! We have apparently been trying hard to bring in players for the stand out weaknesses, a keeper and a striker but just failed before the first match. I mean any team that starts without a dominant keeper plus Cosgrove AND Watters at the sharp end is going to struggle! But the keeper situation seems to be settled so thats one down! But seriously , we stormed the opening game against Vale and that ultimately meant nowt did it? Plus we had a manager who was ultimately pilloried for being too negative and too late to react, this also has been corrected. But one game in, the hand wringing and OTT reactions have started already, OK, many from the usual suspects but still, its one game, get a fking grip willya!
I’ve seen some of the ridiculous OTT drivel posted based on one game, that’s what I was referring to !
Why not respond directly to the OTT drivel that's upset you rather than having a drama queen swipe at everyone.
It isn't the manager many have an issue with. Clarke got it wrong yesterday and swiftly moved to rectify this. Too little too late, we should have got something from the game yes, but these things happen. It's the systematic failure from above him since they've been in place to do anything but take us backwards on and off the pitch. This season will probably be the furthest off being a 2nd tier club both on and off the pitch since 02/03 or 04/05 and I just don't see that as being acceptable. Standards are set from the top. We've known since January that the only contracted strikers we'd have are Marsh, Jalo, Watters and Cosgrove. The fact we haven't been able to bring in anyone, let alone of the requisite quality is an absolute disgrace and a complete failure. It isn't football manager but neither is it quantum physics. We've had 8 months to identify players and try and bring them in. And we've gone into this season completely unprepared. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. "Much bigger playing budget" has gone well. It's all smoke and mirrors.
If the weaknesses hadn't been identified your post would be fair enough. But both the board and the manager know full well we need a striker or two. I'd rather we brought in the right players even if we have to wait a couple of weeks, than make poor signings just to stop people moaning.
Just back from holiday and I've got better things to do! What I put covers everything that was depressingly familiar from the same posters! Drama queen my arse, the posts were ridiculous based 0on one game, or did I touch a nerve or summat!
We were terrible for the first 20 minutes. I mean.......... we were slaughtered by Mansfield. One match swallow does not make a summer. However we had to take someone off and swop things around in order to stop them getting a cricket score. And then once things had settled down, we were privy to everything that ought to have been bleedin obvious before the start of the season. We have no meaningful attack. Watters can show that he's like an Olympic sprinter, quite impressive actually, but so far his shots are like a crown green bowler. 2 years in. Cosgrove is daft like Freddie Flintoff but without the control. Anybody seen him try and blast it skywards from 6 yards before? I have. They'll get chances and every now and then they'll score. And posters will say that it proves this point or other. But they're not sharp enough are they? I think we need one striker - push the boat out - rather than two. A killer signing. Go for someone exciting. What use is it farting about with doubles from Scotland or Belgium? Just one , to compliment Jalo.
None from me mate. Early days, I'm sure they'll get it sorted. It sounded like Connell was back to his best and if we can get Phillips back to his best oh and a half decent striker and get Pines back, I'm sure we'll do ok. I didn't see the game, I was in Coleraine (Northern Ireland) but listened on iFollow which was truly abysmal. Where were the usual commentary team? The bloke had no expert summariser, it seemed like he'd never seen a football match before and simply churned out endless "footy cliches". I certainly won't be spending any more if that feeble effort is all that's in store, glad I cancelled my subscription at the end of last season.
Bet the Leeds board are full of negative posts about how **** they were not beating newly promoted Pompey
Neither were the majority commenting on the match day thread lol.... they all want to say what’s wrong and what the board need to do ...i.e. spend some brass!....yet most of these don’t put their money into club either.......obviously people that are unable to attend for genuine reasons are excused from my little rant but there’s loads on here that say board not putting money in and they don’t put anything in themselves...... hypocrites maybe lol
Brum spent fortunes and could only draw against Reading. Must admit I was surprised at some of the comments after 1 game.
It's symptomatic of the modern world - complain first, reason later. Quite often we get the former without the latter, dependent on the posters level of critical thinking.
You say the modern world but some of those I saw complaining most on Friday were pensioners. It's always been the same, it just wasn't written down in the past
Definitely. I think a lot of people forget that what they read on social media is no different to what used to be spoken between friends, it's just out there for everyone to see now.
