" We'll get the players we want"

Of course we've missed out on some, I bet there isn't a single club that hasn't. He's also come out and said that some of our targets aren't being made available until closer to the start of the season. In an ideal world, we'd all love all of our transfer business being done by the start of the season, but again, there isn't a single club who won't make a signing between now and the end of the month.

 

We will 100% get some players. Whether they are the ones we want will be another thing. Can sense something very underwhelming

 

You word this though as if it's by design. Do you honestly think that it's 'the approach the club has taken', or simply, we haven't been able to do the business we've wanted to despite the lack of effort.

Rather than look at what we're missing, I've assessed what we've done already and I feel that we'll see an improvement on those areas of the pitch.

In an ideal world, we'd have loved to have had our business done now, and I don't think it's from the lack of effort that we haven't. But as I keep saying, there won't be a single team who thinks their squad is 'ready' for the season. The only way to ensure that is to close the window before it starts.

 

Is that D Clarke ? We clearly won’t as they were supposed to be in place before they went to Loughborough, had 3 months to sort it and couldn’t.

 

If he gets the players he wants then won't that be a first in many years?
We seem to have had several manager coaches who've been told something similar only to wave bye bye shortly afterwards.
Or is that just the cynic in me?

 

If you trust these owners to do the right thing, then you need to have your bumps felt, we'll end up with a couple of loans from Wrexham and Blackpool.

 

Is this on the basis of us signing McAttee and Roberts last year and Craig and the Chelsea goalie this season?

 

No mate, i simply think we are unable to get our business done in a timely manner. I suspect it's a combination of lack of funds and ineptitude, rather than malice or a planned thing.

 

To me I think it further shows incompetence. We knew Roberts was on loan he joined on 18th July last year. So we have wasted a season and then not identified and got his replacement and then gone into a season without a no1 GK. Our new loanee only joined squad on Friday so will probably take a couple of weeks to get into him what he’s expected to do and in the meantime we have already dropped points in part due to it.

Yeah cos that’s where this seasons’ and most of last seasons’ loans came from!

 

It seems obvious to me that we did want our squad sorting earlier and that we have missed out on players but it is what it is and its vital that we hold our nerve and bring in the 2 or 3 quality players that will improve us, whilst in the meantime it's up to Watters etc to grab their opportunities.
