I know the Euros and Gareth Southgate & co, are just a distant memory now.
And we're more concerned at the moment, with what the Tykes are going to do in the rest of this months transfer window!.
However, the Fa have given Lee Carsley the job short term at the moment, for a few Nations league matches next month.
I hope that's all it is though, and Im not having a go at Lee, but surely we can and we should be looking to do better than this.

Just because he's not a "name"? His record with the U21's is decent and he knows the England set-up inside out. Could actually be a much better shout than appointing an outsider who'll need to learn the ropes. International management is vastly different to club management, and it's a tricky transition - plenty of excellent club managers have failed miserably as international managers, and not just for England. Giving him a chance in the League of Nations is a very smart move.

If he does well he'll get it permanently. Promotion from within, it's what happened for Southgate to get the gig.

He deserves a go and hopefully he keeps it. Attacking football and an international trophy winner.

Should be fine, all the anti Southgate experts made it clear how easy it is to win tournaments.

Yeah why not, he may not be a big name but he knows the set up really well already, plus he will know the majority of the players anyway

Woodrow Wilson would have agreed :)
I agree overall. We dont know how people will do until they do or dont do it. He may be great or he may be total kak. I'd have put feelers out for Klopp myself - if they haven't already - but we just don't know....

Instead of going off on one and making a mountain out of a molehill, why didn’t you insert the word ‘interim’

    dufus…

I honestly don't know if Klopp would have taken it with his legacy at Liverpool. The scouse not English narrative is getting bigger and bigger and I genuinely think him taking the England job would hurt that legacy!

Last I read the FA are hoping for Pep when his contract runs out at City, that's why they've only appointed an interim headcoach.

And we can't offend the non English/British scouser thing now, can we!.
Lee might prove he's up to it, we'll have to wait and see.
But seriously if they had a choice, before this decision was announced, how many England fans would have wanted a 'bigger' name ?.

I'm not talking about the FA bothering to offend mate, I'm talking about whether Klopp would take it due to his links there.
Obviously Klopp would be first name for me but just can't see it. Carsley plays some excellent stuff with the youth squads so if it can be done with the senior squad, all the better mate.

Dont think the FA would pay for Howe, think Newcastle would want some serious cash. Id rather Carsley than Lampard, Gerrard and even Potter.

I certainly wouldn't want Lampard or Gerard either, or Rooney!!. And Klopp or Guardiola might not work out after all, as I know its a gamble whoever gets the job.
But I'm sure we all know, there's a massive step up in quality and difficulty, between the England u-21 and full International teams.
I think they've been canny here by giving it to Lee, just for these few 'glorified friendlies'. These are two Nations league games against Rep Ireland and Finland, I think.

It's a sensible move for me, he will have worked with some of the players and plays an attacking brand of football.
It gives the FA time to get the right man but gives them time to look at Carsley aswell, massive lack of quality managers available at the minute, it's the right call for me.

The U21s were very impressive under Carsley, and he deserves a chance. Will know it’s his to lose, but that disappointing results will lead to a name replacement.

What ??, can you ask me that again ehh Rascal, in English please. :D
Ok I'm not that daft anymore to think that it must be an English man!!, that's a seriously outdated view. But I did used to think that admittedly.

Southgate was amazing with the 21s before stepping up to 1st team coach.
It was clear the lads were jumping thru hoops for him.
Carsley as performed even better with the 21s,seems like a no brainer to let him take over, until a choice is made for head coach.
I wouldn't have any problem him taking the role, always prefer promoting from within.
I can see Nicky Eaden doing similar at BFC in the future at some point.
