Just pay the fee and get it sorted. Been identified as a top target and is one we should be able to afford. Not sure why is it dragging on so much. The game against Mansfield is done with now too so that obstacle is out of the way too now.
For goodness sake, what exactly is the appeal to this player ?. And does that mean we're peeing all our eggs into this one basket!!.
Couldn't agree more Nathan. He didn't look happy to be a part of the game Friday and to me looked like that was a goodbye to the Mansfield fans when he was subbed.
After seeing him on Friday didn’t see anything that looks like he would be an improvement on what we have already unless Adam Phillips is moving on.
Accept the first decent offer for Styles and get him bought' this as got someone nicking him from under our noses written all over it.
I’d imagine that the club have moved on to another target, or they’re willing to let it run until late in the window and hope their asking price comes down. Another one to add to the ‘ITK’ waffle pile, along with Bergstrom being at Oakwell last Thursday.
I was pretty underwhelmed with his contribution. I recall him doing a few showboaty flicks which were pretty pointless and his free kick in the second half was floaty and wayward. He ran around a bit but I thought his end product was poor. Of course he could have been trying too hard given our supposed interest. I certainly couldn't justify the sort of money thats being touted, especially given our financial mess. For that money he needs to be starting every week. If you're starting him every week, you're either dropping Phillips or creating a free role and dropping a striker. I'd rather spend the money on a good striker at this level.
Does my nut in does this. Either pay up or move on. Dragging it out risks both missing out, and running out of time to land plan b
Fortunately the club will have scouted him over several months and seen a lot more than we have.He has a good goal scoring rate and can play as an advanced midfielder or striker. In my view he would be a very welcome addition to our squad.
I disagree with earlier posts about his performance on Friday - I thought he was very good and certainly the most creative player on the pitch. In the first 20 minutes he tore us apart and whilst we restricted him once Jon Russell came on, he remained their main threat. He seemed to be able to find space to receive the ball, was very comfortable when he had it and looked a threat to me. Many people were concerned about our ability to get enough goals - if we get him I think he'll score and create regularly.
If we can’t afford him move on instead of embarrassing ourselves trying get someone on the cheap. My worry is we’re putting our eggs in one basket letting this saga run on, when we could be making moves for other targets. We’re going to end up with nobody at this reyt!
Hurry up and pay the asking fee, so we can finally accuse the club of paying too much for him for gods sake.
I thought their number 17 had more effect on the game personally. However, both of them faded when we changed formation
