I’m in Barnsley General A&E. Arrived 6.5 hours ago. No prospect of seeing a doctor any time soon. I love the NHS, but if you are going to be ill avoid Monday nights.
Apparently they only have five doctors on duty. I came in with chest pains and they gave me a quick ECG about 15 minutes after I arrived, and it was OK. So I’m in the non-priority section and, although there’s only about 6 of us waiting to see a doctor, we haven’t seen any for ages. Actually, in a one hour period around 3am more people gave up on it and left than there are those of us who decided to stick around. We definitely deserve better than this. Hopefully the new government can repair the damage.
Hope they sort you out soon. I sympathise with the waiting around. It's good that they checked you out quickly. Fingers crossed you're out of there before too long with a reassuring diagnosis.
Thank you. Hope so. Another young guy, who has been here since 11 last night, has just upped and left. The real concern is that there doesn’t appear to be an end-point. For all I know I could be sitting here another 8 hours!
I’m still up, but it’s only 21:40 over here. I just happen to be watching The Indian Doctor from around 2012, which I’m sure you could do with right now. Hang in there mate, and all the best.
Hope you’re ok. I’m in a tent in Lincolnshire and have been woken up by being kicked off the air mattress!
Just seen this and I was awake then too. Had a rubbish nights sleep, the joys of getting older! Hope they get to the bottom of your chest pains when you are eventually seen!
I went to A n E 4 weeks ago with chest pains . Same as you got ECG straight away. 10 hours later before I saw a Doctor. Good luck mate. You still done the right thing, better to be safe.
Hope you okay mate, why such a long wait if only 6 in queue though......I take it none of the doctors are based only in A and E?......good luck
The whole NHS is a shambles and this is not me having ago at the vast majority of people that work for it . The missus has had problems with both her gallbladder and intestines I could go into great detail but I won't bore you with the details but her care has been nothing short of a total shambles. The wonderful ex government have run it into the ground nothing short of a total overhaul will save it but we all know that will take time and lots and lots of money. Time for the country to decide we all put our hands in our pockets and pay for it through general taxation or the rich have the care through health insurance and rest have to put up with what Gimmer and my wife are putting up with now.
My mam had a fall around 11.30pm last December and it was a Monday night so i phoned 999 and the ambulance arrived 5 hours later so my mam was left on the floor in pain for all that time ( she’s 96 ). The NHS is on its arse .
Staff now have to pay their carparking back after they've been paid because the trust can't take it out their wage if they're Band 2 because that would take them below the minimum wage. Earn more at Aldi or Lidl stacking shelves than for the NHS. Can't recruit staff because when they realise the wage they don't come to their opening shift.
