Not the worst 45 minutes but by god we are powder puff up front . Pines worries me every time ball at his feet
Despite the yellow and giving a penalty away, Yoganathan I thought was our brightest player. Defence still looking suspect as ever
Would like to see us bring Connell Phillips and Watters for the second half. I'd prefer not to go out in the first round and although losing we are slightly the better side.
We give up the ball so easily like we can't wait to play a killer pass need to keep hold of the bloody thing and build some momentum
Plenty of positive play, just powderpuff up front, as we all know. Hopefully this reiterates to the board we need at least 2 attacking players pronto! Yonganathan has had a mixed bag of a game, poor decision making, but he’s very young, & very talented, he’s going to be quality, will earn us £££££’s if we manage him right. Marsh isn’t good enough sadly. Cotter looking decent going forward. Impressed with Gent.
Well this has been predictably cack. We've an uncanny knack of being second to nearly every loose ball, and panic when the opposition is running at us. Cosgrove and Marsh trying but ultimately offering bugger all. Midfield offering no service. Wingbacks at least trying to get forward and put balls in. Bleurgh.
I think we’ve been the better team - penalty aside they’ve offered nowt - like the look of Slonina and I think Pines has looked pretty solid
We just look so jittery in defence with the ball at our feet. It honestly reminds me of watch young kids play when they can't seem to sort their feet out. It just breeds nervousness throughout the side. Passes aren't coming off all over the pitch, not enough on them and Wigan are getting a foot in most of the time. We need to sharpen up with that and create a stronger foothold in the game. People on X knocking Cotter! Thick as mince some folk! Yoganathan, looks a player on the ball, looks a liability off it. Craig fairly anonymous. Really compact in the midfield area. What we need is the strikers to stretch the play a bit more to create the space in the middle for us to play our game effectively. Unfortunately, Cosgrove appears unable to play any other way than showing short for the ball which inevitably leads to nothing. I'd take Cosgrove off and bring on Watters with the instruction to stretch the back line more. Too static in the middle. Not the end of the world, but a massive uptick in effort required for the second half.
I love Yoganathan but he's too lightweight with his power and tries to make up for it by fouling. Just grow into your shell young lad. No rush.
Considering they’re full strength and we’ve made umpteen changes I don’t think it’s been horrendous. Admittedly not much in the way of quality but can’t fault the effort. Like others have said I would like to see senior players come on at some point to actually try and win the game. Collins basically throwing the game against Tranmere last year with his pre planned subs and ending the game with Killip, Shepherd and 9 kids really annoyed me.
