Please do not join in this thread if you think he is no good. My thoughts He is very quick Can run at pace with the ball Good strength Gets in good positions Showed guts to take that penalty He must have read and heard the negative comments but he is still turning up. HE WILL SCORE LOTS OF GOALS THIS SEASON. Super super max super maxy watters.
He just need a goal to get his confidence back Rest of his game is much better than last season. Just lacking that confidence and conviction in front of goal
Thought he played well when he came on tonight / low on confidence though and needs a goal to hopefully kick on
Can I chime in and say Cosgrove will come good too and Clarke is top head coach. Once Phillips and Connell click we won't notice the misses.
From what I’ve seen the last two games, he’s done well. Would rather have him over Cosgrove. I don’t obviously know the in’s and out’s with him, but he seems very much lacking in self belief and confidence in his ability to score. Maybe he could benefit from seeing a sports psychologist or something of that nature.
He has hardly done a thing for us and it was daft to sign him permanently after a poor loan spell. If we sold him it would be at a loss, so let's hope tonight is the start of something good for him.
All the tools and really puts it in. He can be a great striker at this level. We need to get behind him. No matter what we need to cheer him on. That's the only way he gets his confidence up
His all round game is decent, but strikers are judged on taking chances, and he doesn't. Hope he starts soon as he's our player.
Showing more form than last season but missed another chance tonight( although blocked by a defender) his shot was going wide anyway. Yet his penalty though was excellent but he seems to be reluctant to shoot when the opportunity arises. Hope he comes good cos it's time he did by now.
He needs to start taking guilt edged chances like he gets. It's about taking opportunities. Needs to put the work in, extra finishing practice so he can hit the target with his eyes closed. Do the work get the rewards.
I need to sit down with him and explain how jeopardy really works. He'd never panic in front of goal about kicking a ball about ever again. I think sometimes freedom is stifled for no good reason at all. Footballers represent us but they're out there to express what we'll never do or achieve whilst doing what we do as well. We make them into Gods when they're fallible just like us We go to football for a release but denigrate them when they don't meet our expectations. What expectations are they exactly. At a human level. Same as ours. We're all wind and p155.
I hate how much stick he’s getting online if I’m honest. I know it doesn’t say much but he’s our best option at the moment. His runs off the ball and movement is excellent, he just has absolutely no belief in himself infront of goal. Then again I’m not really surprised given the way our fans are hammering him. When Collins got the boot he was told to find another club. Peterborough wanted him at one stage, so teams must see something in him. It’s just not going his way at the moment. Hope he comes good.
I won't slag him off like most fans are taking great delight it seems, in doing. I like the fact that he's getting credit for his work rate etc, and he's certainly not been lazy in that part of his game.
The smile on his face after scoring his penalty said a lot to me - he looked absolutely buzzing. Hopefully the start of some good form for us! Lots of people thought he deserved a shot after his loan spell here, mate. His goals p/m was really good. Ironically, his finishing was his best asset, and now it seems hes improved everywhere but lost his confidence in front of goal!
