Technically they do. They attend court in front of a magistrate and plead guilty and then a sentence is given out (either then or at a later date). If it isn't a trial, what is it?
Because they've pleaded guilty. Means they get a reduced sentence and can be dealt with at a magistrates court.
Assuming it’s the same reason it keeps happening to me, it’s a bug with Tapatalk on the iOS 18 Beta. https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-tapatalk-and-the-ios-ipados-18-beta.2430349/
That's the British justice system. If you are arrested on suspicion of a violent crime you are locked up until you get to court. If you plead guilty then there's no trial necessary.
I know how the British justice system works, but it has got blown out of proportion. No matter that this is the system it still doesn't say that it is right. Thats my last word on the subject
In this instance they've been sentenced. There has been no trial. You start with a Magistrate, or possibly a bench of them, or a District Judge. If you plead guilty then there's no trial. What point are you making?
What is happening in the country, like i keep saying i have my opinion, others have theirs and as i said enough is enough
Remember when the so called 'Sus law', or earlier versions of this law that we see today. It caused huge controversy with the black and ethnic minorities in 79-80, in and around London especially. " In England and Wales, the sus law (from the term "suspected person") was a stop and search law. It permitted a police officer to stop, search, and potentially arrest anybody, on mere suspicion of them being in breach of section 4 of the Vagrancy act. And according to a 2018 study, the 'Sus' stop and search, only had a marginal impact after all, on crime in the Uk. "
You're not necessarily locked up on suspicion of a violent crime. There's many an accused person that's received bail on such charges.
