So I've got to go to Copenhagen next week with work. Leave Monday afternoon, come back Tuesday night. The robbing buggers are trying to charge me as much for 36 hours of parking than the flights cost...
Just paid £150 for 12 days parking in the drop and go and Manchester airport makes me a little sick but I was quoted far more for a taxi so had no choice
Make sure you use a cashback site like Quidco. We paid £137.49 for 14 days but got over £20 cashback which softened the blow a little.
If you’re going with work, aren’t they paying for it? Jump in the multi storey and claim it back on expenses
Take the National Express... I often fly to Lisbon & flight goes out around 7am from Manchester. Thankfully there is a 2am departure from Leeds. Less than a tenner return & not a long walk to the check in.
I use a company called Holiday Extras, downloaded their App. In May I used their Meet and Greet service, it cost e about £94 without add-ons for 10 days. Really simple, parked on the top tier of the terminal 2.Multi- storey. Took the keys to their office inside the terminal got a ticket. Upon return Simply scanned the ticket in the room at the base of the multi-storey a box popped open with my car key and the number of the bay. It was that simple
For a stay like that , I 'd see what it costs to stay night before at a hotel with parking. Last time I did three days away, stayed at Bewley's at Manchester for £80, got three days free parking, done similar at Luton last couple of times been away as Easyjet are cheaper from there, oh and the guy who uses quidco is definitely right, use them myself for stuff, holiday extras is on quidco too
Depending on your flight times, why not use the train? We travel regularly from Manchester Airport and hardly ever park, train is about £30 from Barnsley.
Probably because they’re unreliable; it can be a trek to get to the train station to get the train, by the time you’ve paid to get there then paid for train fare you’ve not saved that much and it’s hugely inconvenient; it’s embarrassing carrying all your luggage on the bus and train; violent attacks against women on trains has increased by 50% over last few years (see https://news.sky.com/story/violent-...trains-up-by-more-than-50-since-2021-13196789) and, as you say, flight times might not lend itself to it.
Leave it at road travel pal. We paid about 70 quid for 10 days. Transfer to the terminal every 10 minutes too.
Agree on most of your points, although two of them don't really apply to us - we live close to Dodworth station and we don't need to take much luggage. We're often away for 4 weeks or more so parking is prohibitively expensive. We always book an earlier train so we have an option if a train is cancelled. In over 20 years we've never been anywhere near missing a flight because of train delays. We have however had several near misses due to traffic delays. For a 4 week trip, a taxi for us both would be about £180 return, car and parking would be about £220, train would be about £60. I must admit however, we both have senior railcards which reduce the cost by a third.
I would go on the train, but I'm due to land at 23:15. Last train to Sheffield is 23:31, so I've got 16 minutes to get through immigration and to the station if the flight is on time. There are later flights to Leeds, but I'd still have to get back from Leeds... I probably will, but I object to paying the same for 36 hours as I would for a week. It just hurts to pay that much
Last few times I’ve gone on the train, it’s been so much easier. Ignore was gonna say it depends on flight times but just seen post above.
