Sure I’m, not saying my simple analysis on this board can hold the whole truth, I just think its sad that the most deprived parts of the country are once again going to be demonised by applying easy answers to complicated motives. And I want to be able to explore what’s really going on.
I don't think so, I genuinely believe he wants to put his Reform UK views on here about stuff without any challenge and that's not how a forum works.
No you aren’t right in that assumption. You accuse the board of being far left. You say you are being shouted down for your views. What are they? If you are not ‘far right’ - ie a thuggish fascist who attacks anything that’s not perceived as properly English, then you won’t be shouted down. You really won’t. I’m not far left. Nobody on here is. We aren’t a bunch of red flag worshipping communists. Do a lot of us see the benefits of a properly policed and regulated migration system, allowing both skilled professionals and a necessary top up to unskilled labour numbers, as well as offering refuge to those desperate enough to need it? Yes. I’m not sure any of us are satisfied with the current immigration system. The issue is a creation of the right wing governments that went before. They closed all the safe and legal routes into the country; doubling down on the harmful effects of Brexit (which regardless of whether you agreed with it, you can’t deny the detriments exist), leading us into a worm hole of being unable to staff care homes, factories, warehouses, even hospitals. Do ‘illegal immigrants’ get loads of benefits? No, they have no recourse to public funds. Those claiming asylum, which is onerously difficult, get a paltry allowance which is less than any comparable state anywhere else in Europe. People don’t come here for the free money and benefits as the rhetoric goes. So a lot of the mouth frothing brigade like we’ve seen in manvers, Sunderland etc, fuelled by the ******** people like Farage, Yaxley-Lennon, GB News and even the daily mail spout; acting on the propaganda thrown at them as they lack the capacity of thought to see through it. There is nothing wrong with wanting immigration control. There is plenty wrong with wanting to ‘send them all back’, and trying to break into and burn down a hotel containing migrants. Nobody has accused you of belonging to the extremes I mention. You keep saying ‘you’ are shouted down. So air your views. Properly. I might not agree. Probably won’t. But I’ll only offer counter arguments - unless your views happen to be bigoted and abhorrent. I’ve no reason to suggest that to be the case. Instead of shouting down a whole forum and accusing it of being far left (when in actual fact it’s centre left to left at best; and the government you profess be far left is barely left of centre at all, arguably centre right on many issues); why not actually offer a reasoned opinion and enter a conversation, instead of posting a childish and inflammatory OP which was only ever designed to stir up emotional response? Over to you.
Are they being demonised though, or punished for crimes? “A man with a briefcase can steal more money than any man with a gun” pretty much sums up our society, but the long and short of it is that hundreds of people up and down the country engaged in illegal activity and are subsequently being punished for it. I don’t believe that’s demonisation.
A recent poll on the BBS showed the voting intentions of the Board and I think we can safely assume the majority of the Board is centerist with maybe a slight leftist bias. You could also argue there are more far right posters than far left. link (for reference)
Also just to be clear, this is the most centrist labour PM possibly ever, and the 25 people voting Green are the real communists…
You're wrong. The cutting of the winter fuel allowance will affect me badly. Last winter I hardly used the heating. I have my house for sale at the moment. My money is in my property. I have to downsize so that I can pay my bills in the future. You aren't quite Mystic Meg are you? Why would you make such assumptions about a stranger because you have different opinions? I really think that this would be a good time to look at yourself. As Sir Keir says 'Think Before You Post ' And no, I won't be rioting, because that wasn't this thread was about. I live in Barnsley.
The guy you've just replied to, again, wasn't speaking to or about you. If someone is talking to you they will quote you directly.
Are you just responding to whichever post you fancy? That was clearly talking about people residing in Surrey, which very plainly doesn’t apply to you. Bizarre in the extreme.
Thank you for that RGBS. You are a man who goes backwards to produce less of value than your father did going forwards. Nevertheless, your harvest reaps a 63.5% vote for labour - about twice the real world vote.
Wakey's post wasn't directed at you, he was replying to someone else. You need to read the thread properly. This thread is bobbins. Wasted 5 mins on it.
I don’t think anyone was suggesting people would riot about the winter fuel payment, and I’m not an expert having never been old enough to be entitled to it. Plenty of unfairness in the HMRC though around earnings and taxation and benefits. It’s my understanding that people are now only entitled to it if they are claiming another form of benefit, I.e. the poorest in society. There is still a lot of work to be done around it, but seeing as how I know people who spend their winters abroad who until this year were claiming it, there was definitely something wrong with the system.
Perhaps nationally, but would be interesting to see the percentage for Barnsley as a whole. I bet it isn't that far off. Maybe 10% out? Barnsley North was over 50 I think.
